Sac state (CSUS) nursing spring 2013

Hey, is anyone applying to sac state for spring 2012? Do you think it will be easier to get into since they won't accept any non-sacstate students? What do u think the cut off will be?

Sorry for all these questions. Has anyone taken the TEAS v? if so, what was your score? how did you study? and for how long. I am taking the test in 3 weeks. i am nervous

I missed all the excitement on here. I got in! I was at the laundromat and starting jumping up and down. I got some strange looks, but I have been waiting for this day for a long time and just couldn't help myself. To those on the waiting list, stay positive, Ive been there. Ok, congrats to everyone that got in.

OMG now I'm seeing all these posts on here about people flunking out of nursing school. I'm super nervous! Not passing dosage calculation exams, being late to clinical, not having a watch.... Does anybody know the reasons one can flunk out of CSU Sac's program?

I'm in. I look forward to meeting everyone. I can't wait to get started!

Crebs, Everyone in the program has to sign that form, I did and I have had no contact with UCDMC.

Dont stress too much! I think they let you retake the tests if you fail up to three times total (first try counts towards your grade) I passed on the first try so dont know for sure. Start studying the abbreviations as soon as you get the email file containing that information. If you are good at memorizing you can beat it into your brain pretty well within a weeks time. The dosage calculations are not hard if you remember your math but it is a long test and a little exhausting, I would not describe myself as a math expert, however I got 92% because it is fairly simple math and you get to use a calculator (the computer accessory calculator that is on most windows program) again I believe the school allows retakes.

In CSUS SON Gross violations of patient safety rules or violations of HIPAA will get you kicked out. You will NOT flunk out because you forget a watch, yes you need one but buy several (two of mine broke, I got my last few from thrift stores) and keep one in your car for the days you forget. You can flunk out of a nursing class if you average below 73% on tests OR if you average below 73% total in a course. I think All local community colleges RN programs have a C- as failing too. If you fail one course you can petition some sort of board at the SON to retake it but you may have to wait a semester if the next cohort is completely full. We were at 79 and one person repeated N12 from 2nd semester. I have heard that they dont often let anyone repeat two. You do need all of your clinical hours and they are hard to make up. I figure that tardiness may be an issue with some clinical locations as it should be it depends on your professor. My professor was nice about it if someone was late.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm seeing posts of people getting kicked out for missing even 1 question on the calculations exam. Ayayayay. I've been practicing on website I found. It is pretty easy, but I just thought oh man one mistake and I'm through! You've made me feel much more confident. Thanks Kaiamc

Crebs & Kaiamc What is this calculation exam you guys are talking about? Is it for pharmacology class or is it just an overall class that everyone needs to take?

I believe it's something they have you do in one big exam at csus. Some schools have you take a calculation exam every semester, some the first semester. From what I see it appears to be conversions from micrograms to grams, stuff like that. Just knowing your basic math skills.

So I removed the facebook group because who knows what might come out of my mouth and get me in trouble! Gotta be safe!

Does anybody understand the correct procedure for turning in our Healthstream stuff? I just printed out the transcript to turn in with the other stuff that's due by the 26th, but the email didn't say to turn in a printout with the rest of the forms due on the 26th. This is probably a stupid question but don't want to make any mistakes. The instructions say to hit a special button, but because it doesn't say to deliver a hard copy I find this to not be as clear as it could be and want to make sure I'm hitting the correct button. I work with electronic submissions a lot and there are a lot of different procedures so I promise I'm not as stupid as this may make me sound. hehe

Anybody complete all 4 modules yet? I got so excited I did them all right away after receiving my email. :)

Crebs- is there any way to study for it? Or do they eventually send us material to study before the actual exam? I have yet to do the modules, but I'll make sure to get to it soon!
