Hey, is anyone applying to sac state for spring 2012? Do you think it will be easier to get into since they won't accept any non-sacstate students? What do u think the cut off will be?

Sorry for all these questions. Has anyone taken the TEAS v? if so, what was your score? how did you study? and for how long. I am taking the test in 3 weeks. i am nervous

The good thing is the engraving... That's a plus as I've heard people's stethoscopes suddenly grow legs. I've heard of people having to purchase them several times.
An FYI... engraving will not save your 'scope from being thieved because it's very difficult to see and if anybody's going to swipe it, they won't worry about it. A simple label is generally sufficient in order for it to be returned.

The key to keeping your 'scope is to keep it with you, engraved or not...

Thanks for the advice. Do you use a stethoscope hip clip? I've heard it gets annoying having it around your neck all day. I'm interested in the engraving more so that it can get back to me if lost or if there is some sort of confusion as to whose is whose. Do you have any recommendations as far as a label?

I personally don't use the hip-clip but many folks do. I tried one and had problems both with it getting caught on stuff and not staying in well enough.

I rarely do the necklace hang because I just don't like how it feels (and I don't want an easy ligature around my neck) and I've heard that the rubber can be degraded over time by the oils in the skin. I will sometimes dangle it over my shoulder (head at my chest, earbuds on my back) which works fairly well but is still subject to getting caught on stuff.

I've settled into keeping it in my cargo pocket and sometimes just sitting at the nurse's station (which isn't really a viable option as a student) since I don't use it that often throughout my shift.

For quite some time (through school and through my first year or so), I didn't label it at all. I finally settled on the old standby of wrapping a wrist band around it with my name on it so that I could easily spot it from a distance.

Picture this: So you've engraved your shiny new tool and you've now misplaced it. You're walking around and you see a scope sitting by the standoffish doc that *might* be it... are you going to walk up and pick it up to read that small, faint engraving? What if you think that mean nurse might have picked it up in error? I opted for something that was easy to see and unmistakeable. If somebody is going to swipe my scope, the engraving won't matter. If they're going to pick it up in error, the label makes it easy to identify - and reduces the chances of it being picked up in the first place.

My experience is that 'scopes don't "make it back" but rather have to be found. They're not so often stolen as "cleaned up" or inadvertently 'acquired.' People don't generally make an effort to return it to you... they'll just toss it somewhere out of the way.

If you don't like the "ghetto label" that I use, you buy a hard plastic label that clips on.

Cool, thanks. I'm not the type of person that easily misplaces things. So I got the engraving because I like to personalize my stuff, its free, why not?

Good point. And no matter how small the engraving is, it certainly doesn't hurt. And, ordering it from the company with the engraving is cheaper than purchasing it through CNSA anyway.

Has anyone gotten their classes registered yesterday?

Has anyone gotten their classes registered yesterday?

not me

Has anyone gotten their classes registered yesterday?

Yeah my classes are registered on Mysacstate but Nurs12 isn't.

So who is planning to get the e-book version or the real books? I'm still not sure but I'm leaning towards the real books..

Maybe they're going in order of section. They said they would start yesterday. Who knows when they'll finish. I don't see the point in having the actual books if I can just pull them up on my computer. Some people need them for tactile reasons, but I do well with e books. I just wish they would post the individual books so I can look for cheaper versions. Somebody from this semester told me that he was able to find books online that were cheaper. But it looks like one or two of the classes have an e component that we'll HAVE to use. I'm a bit confused. I think $400 is a lot for books. I'm usually really good at getting my books for a great price.

Same here. I usually always find cheaper books on amazon. I think I might just go check out what's in the bundle and see if I could find them for cheaper

Just ordered my uniforms. Ayayay these costs!
