I have a BS in Health Science: Community Health Education from CSULB. My undergrad gpa was slightly below 3.5. After I graduated, I took some prereqs for nursing that I missed. My gpa post-graduation is a 4.0. B's in Anatomy and Physiology, and A's in chemistry and microbiology. Over 150+ volunteer hours in the emergency room. My TEAS score is not competitive at all. I also submitted a copy of my BLS card if they counted it towards anything at all.

This is my first time applying to Rio Hondo and any other nursing programs. I figured the ABSN route would be better suited for me since I have a degree already. Did you apply to any other schools? I hear LA Harbor has a pretty good nursing program and they select students using the lottery system so long as you meet the requirements. Good luck, and you will become a nurse in time!

I received a letter of acceptance from Rio Hondo College on April 10th. The letter states that I have to notify them my intent to enroll by April 19th. Because I am awaiting to hear from other schools, I will be giving up my spot so good luck to any of the alternates!

You're giving up your spot without hearing back from other schools yet? That's ballsy!

I received a letter in the mail today saying I'm provisionally accepted into the program! Unfortunately, I will be giving up my seat for another school so I hope someone else will get it. Good luck!
    Hi aloeng
What does it means provisionally? Because today I just got call and she said I was chosen as provisionally

Provisionally basically means you are accepted provided you pass the teas v exam and meet all of the other requirements (background check, etc)

    Congratulations!

I'm giving up my spot because the program is not accredited by the national league of nursing.

Omg it IS accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

The school doesn't pay for a supplemental NLN "accreditation" that isn't really relevant in California at all; neither to hiring entities nor BSN or MSN programs.

But hey, more spaces for us...
