Respiratoy Therapist to Registered Nurse

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi guys. Im a Respiratory Therapist interested in becoming a RN. I thought about obtaining my Bachelor's in Respiratory but im hearing it s just not worth it. So I thought to myself that BSN or ADN with an active background as a RRT would definately benefit me and besides, I feel that I am up for the challenge. Can anyone give me some advice.

I will say that from what I've seen in the forums, if you are planning on working in CA, you might want to obtain your BSN rather than the ADN. I agree that your background in RT will more than likely benefit you.

Good Luck!

If you want to work in acute care, your BSN is definitely the way to go. Just be aware that the market in CA is TOUGH for new grads, even with extensive healthcare experience prior to obtaining an RN.
