U.S.A. California

Has the hospital closed the application for the new grad nurse program for this coming July? I thought the application was supposed to open in March, and now the website says that the application was open in February?

From what I heard they finished sending out email requests for essays a while ago, but if they told you otherwise go with that...this is just the information I was given

Just joined this forum!

Got an email to submit an essay on Apr 1st. Submitted it 1 week later. Got a call today to set up an interview for tomorrow. I don't know what department is interviewing me... I applied for Hem/Onc but also expressed interest in Med/Surg.

Good luck everyone!

Hi swtsour714,

I am just joining the forum too! I got a call the other day and scheduled an interview with Hem/Onc as well :)

How did yours go??

Congrats on your interview!!!

I have one as well for Hem/Onc. How did yours go? :)

I got confirmation that only 125 people got the essay and that they are being VERY particular on the guidelines for the essay, i.e. if you had over 1 in margins or 2 pages, they threw it out. Also, essays have just been forwarded to hiring managers, so they are behind even though they were planning to make calls to set up interviews for the last week in April. They're pretty behind so that may be delayed....

The waiting is killing me! :/

The waiting is killing me too! It was okay to have 2 pages right, just not over?? I thought the instructions said it had to be 2 pages or less...?? Mine was exactly 2 pages...

Yeah anything under 2 pages...seems like hem/onc was the first unit to setup interviews because their dept manager is going on vacation soon...also got word that my friend who is an internal had a call to setup a med/surg interview yesterday. Hopefully all the other units get on board soon and calls go out next week....come on NICU!!

Anyone hear anything from any other units??

Hi JessicaLin,

Sorry I didn't reply earlier! I'm new to the forum and do not check the site often. I think/hope the interview went well. They told me I was the first one they were interviewing. Since the Unit Manager is going on vacation, they said I should hear back by early May. All behavioral questions, no clinical ones. I brought my nursing portfolio (2 copies- 1 for each of my interviewers) and they seemed to like it. I've interviewed at a couple of other places before and they never even looked at it but this time she actually read through/skimmed mine and said she was excited to read it later. I think my interview was just under an hour long.

How'd yours go?

Just an FYI for any others who might interview later- their parking garage is horrendous and super crowded. Definitely add extra time to accommodate parking time. The information desk will validate your parking when you leave but I think someone has to sign off on it. The unit manager signed mine off when I left.

they are calling the people for the NICU this week and scheduling interviews for the next two weeks or so

did anyone apply or interview for the program who is from out of town/doesn't know many people in san diego! i am hoping for a position and if i get one will need friends! haha

Do you know when they started making calls? I've been anxiously waiting for a call from the NICU. I'm really hoping to get the job so I'm really hoping for an interview especially since I did my internship there.

Just got the call and have an interview setup!!! Crossing my fingers :)

thats amazing! i got an interview too! did you love having your internship there!?
