Pasadena City College RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

Hi lawrencencandy, sorry I haven't been answering back to your post, but I have been pretty busy at school. The program is awesome! I don't know exactly how the lvn-rn program, but I've heard that its a lot harder for the lvn's coming in to 3rd semester because of theory/lecture. I'm not saying that most lvn's, but there are a few that either fail or drop out because it is difficult for them. If you are already accepted, I suggest you begin reading ASAP and study your ABG'S!!!!!! if you have any other questions just ask me :)

Any recommendations for 2nd semester clinical instructors?

Hi thanks for reply. Ill start the program next year spring 2014 after my transition class which I'm taking now. I'm currently practicing dosage cal, ABG's :)

Good for you EllieBean!!! When will you find out if you get in for sure? I know you said you were accepted as an alternate so hopefully several will decline the offer....Also, if you don't mind posting, what were your grades in English, Physio2 A&B, and Mircro?[/quote']

Did u go to PCC?

I am currently attending PCC nursing program and just completed the 1st semester and I worked part-time during the program. Although I do recommend not to work during the nursing program, but it is not impossible to go through nursing program with job....at least the first semester I guess. I am unsure if my grade was better if I didn't work, yet my grade wasn't so bad :) so it's hard to say.... it's just that there was so much stuff to do, time management was very hard. This will also depending on your clinical location too. Mine was kinda far so it was quite a struggle.... But like I said, it is not impossible. Good luck![/quote']

What psych book did u guys used?

Hello,

I'm new to this thread, I received the acceptance e-mail on Thursday November 12, 2014. I'm very grateful that 3/4 schools accepted me; however, I'm only considering LA County and Pasadena City College. I need help to make a decision which school to go to as soon as possible so I can finish all the requirement in time. I understand that LA County offers the best Clinical practice and also a very reputable Nursing school in general. However, Pasadena City college offers Full scholarship which I am eligible, this means I would not have to pay for the tuition fee at all. I also attended the orientation of PCC and I have to say that the program seems REALLY good and cares a lot of their students. The pre registration for LA county is on November 21st. So hopefully after the pre registration at LA county, I will be able to compare and clearly decide from there. any advice for me?

Thank you,

Bryan Go

Hello! I am currently planning on applying to the ADN program at PCC this year. I was just curious what your TEAS score was, cumm. GPA, and overall GPA, etc..? Thank you! Much appreciated!
