Pasadena City College RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

So as it turns out, I will not be going to PCC after all. I was debating between PCC and LA County's program and after attending both orientations, I think the County program is best for me. It was a tough decision because I really liked PCC. But I hope an alternate here has a chance now. Good luck everyone!

Willowita.. I got accepted to both la county and Pcc as well.. But i was just wondering, what helped you make your decision in choosing la county?

I went to the orientation on Friday and they addressed a lot of my questions about financial aid and succeeding in the program. I kept hearing how hard it was from students on this forum, which scared me at first. I don't doubt it's hard. But some of the reasons they gave at orientation are that some students go into it without understanding what nursing is, some have personal issues, others don't have enough financial or emotional support, and some weren't prepared for the amount of time needed for the program. So it made me feel confident that I could handle it.

Also, both of my parents are nurses at LAC+USC and they really believe I will get a richer experience doing clinicals at that hospital. You'll get wider exposure to patients, diseases, treatments, and processes than at a private hospital. My father is in a preceptor program there and I see how hard it is on him. So if he's telling me that I can do it, then I can't be too scared.

Vikont, which CVS location has the flu shot?

727 S Arroyo Pky, Pasadena, CA 91105

Thanks Vikont! Unfortunately, I called that location and they said they are out. Guess I missed it. :(

pcc has it for sure. or just call every pharmacy around.

not big deal..in few weeks they will have it in any place.

I visited this pharmacy today..and they do provide a flu shot.

Specializes in Float Pool.

I got a phone call right now from PCC, and the lady asked if I wanted to attend their nursing program since I was "next" as their alternate. I'm already at ELAC's program, so I politely declined. Hopefully someone here gets that spot! :) Good luck guys!

I just got accepted to PCC yesterday. Sheesh. How far down on that alternate list was I? I am picking up my orientation packet next week. Do I have a whole bunch of things I need to do before the first day of class?

Has anyone else found the flu shot anywhere? Everyone I've spoken to has said that their flu shots expired in May...

Same here. I called Pasadena and they said not to worry about it. They said just to get it once it's available.

Hi all, i just got my acceptance letter today. I know it's very very late, yet i'm so excited and grateful that i can get into the program. Could anyone help me with the NSO application? How much do you need to pay? I tried to fill it out but i'm afraid to make a mistake. Also, when should we return the acceptance package? Is there any deadline for that?

Any info will be helpful for me. Thank u so much!
