Palomar College nursing waitlist

Anyone in the Palomar College waitlist? Anyone knows if they already sent out acceptance letters for Spring 2012 or Fall 2012? If you do, what number on the waitlist are you currently in? I'm in the 80's and I'm just looking for a rough estimate on when I could get in. Hopefully sooner than I thought :)

Thank you and hope to hear from someone soon :)

Congrats Belle0829!

Thx...it's been quite the wait. I am currently #29 on the list.

#29? Wow...that's awesome! Is your number still showing on the waiting list? So, are you going to any orientation? Did they just informed you this month to start in Jan? I'm excited for you...best of luck! I appreciate everyone posting an update here cuz I'm still anxious to know when I could start....really hoping I can get in in Fall 2012.

Yes it's still showing, so technically everyone has moved up...what # are you? They had emailed a mth ago saying there was a slight possibility I could start in the Spring and then yesterday they told me a spot had opened. Needless to say I'm rushing to get everything that is required finished soon. Good luck to you...if you're close to my #, then most likely you'll start in the Fall!

How exciting!!! I'm still on the 80's :( so I might not start anytime soon, but it's good to know the timeline on when I could possibly start. I'm also working on my BS CLS (clinical lab science) and I have about almost a year from now until I get it done. At least I'm getting something done while I'm patiently waiting for my # to come up.

Good luck to you again and I hope you get everything you needed before the class starts.

thank you...good luck to you too. be prepared because it could go pretty quickly, i didn't think i would start until next Fall.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. Good luck again :)

Hi everyone,

Did anyone get accepted under the new point system? If so and don't mind sharing, what was your total points? I'm curious to know if I'm in the ballpark.

Also, where are the clinical sites for Palomar College?

Thanks!

If y'all haven't gone through the orientation meeting for Palomar yet for starting the next semester or even later I HIGHLY recommend buying the math book Dosage Calculations by Gloria Pickar and buying Fluids & Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy and studying both of those before you start. Know how to do all of the math calculations and memorize the values for the electrolytes and have a general idea of what those hyper and hypo conditions look like so you can just fine-tune it when you get to the second test in school Those are two major study hogs that you might want to have pretty solid before you get in. Also make sure you know your physiology really well. Refresh on the physiology beforehand if you're feeling a little fuzzy there.

I just started first semester this last 2012 and it's kicking my butt and I'm a very smart girl. It's a great program though. Just PLEASE don't get overwhelmed and quit. People are already dropping out and really it's just a matter of fortitude, this program is totally worth it. :) It seems that most of the people who don't make it through quit rather than fail. It's such a shame.

As far as the points system goes, I don't believe that they really are admitting half and half wait-list and points-system. It seems to be mostly wait-list. SO even though I expected to start fall of 2012 or spring of 2013, I started this January. That's awesome for you girls on the wait-list! Clinical sites are long-term SNF places for the first half of clinicals and then we move to acute care in a hospital for the last 5 or 6 weeks.

I recommend to all of you people to just be diligent and work through the stress. This isn't easy but it sure is fun and very intense. :) I'm done with my first 5 weeks and it's been great. My classmates and I are family and it has been a wonderful experience thus far. Be professional, be diligent and study smart, not hard. :D Feel free to message me with any questions you might have, I'm happy to help.

I tried to PM you, but I dont have enought postings to allow that! I will be entering this Fall and was wondering if you hade any tips besides the ones you listed below?

Thanks so much!
