Need less stressful unit

Hello folks! I am new to this web site. I passed my RN & LVN boards only last month. Since I am just a tourist here, I need a sponsor/petitioner to be able to work legally here in CA. As a new graduate, i know my petitioner/employer would put me in the med/surg unit or telemetry where there is really a staff shortage. We all know how stressful these areas are and i think it's not my dream to be in there, but when an alien is looking for a job there's nothing left but to accept where they will put me. But the problem is, i am suffering from Endometriosis, experiencing severe pain every ovulation and monthly period. I know i wouldn't perform my job with such pain everynow and then. My doctor advise me to get pregnant because the tumor might spread in my uterus that might give another complications, aside from i'm on my late 30's already. I am very confuse now. I need a job to be legalized here & at the same time to have a baby now. Which area would you think is less stressful for me so that i can work as a nurse and at the same time can give me a chance to conceive?

I am doing job hunting nowadays. I have 5 in my listings, 3 big hospitals (350+ beds) and 2 community hospitals ( -200 beds).Where do you think I would be better off? One hospital told me that they would not give me a contract but i will be tied up to the hospital until after my green card process is finished (almost 1yr & 6 mos i hope). Is that a good agreement? I've got a good hospitals in my hand but i am afraid that they would not petition me if they will know my condition. That's why i am counting on your advice before i will be called for an interview. Hi Pittsburgh Nurse,

I missed to mention that my dr already found small tumors in my uterus. I would have appreciated it much if you just gave your opinion/advise instead of telling me that endometriosis is not a tumor ( which i already knew). I hope this forum would help nurses in need of advise & not a battle of the brains. Or i'm just beginning to encounter a scenario where a nurse is eating their young???? Anyway, thank you for the info.

hi again tweety thankyou:) ill pray for you also i have just applied for a job as a telephone advice nurse in a ob/gyn office. 6 other people interviewed also. i doubt i'll get it i am a new nurse also. i have pain during ovulation and sever 1st day of period all other days are bearable. do you have pain that runs down your legs also? doctor advised me to get pregnant after i had laproscopic surgery for endo.3 years ago. i got preg and have a son who just turned 2. breastfeeding will also suppressovulation and periods. i didn't get it again till10 months later. periods were fine first 3 months then went back to same. so maybe consider breastfeeding it really helped. AS FAR AS JOBS GO I APPLIED FOR ANOTHER ONE AT THE VETERANS HOSPITAL. BENEFITS ARE GREAT. DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE SAME EVERYWHERE BUT 26 PAID DAYS OFF AND 13 SICK DAYS A YEAR SOUNDS LIKE WHAT I NEED. ONE DAY FOR EVERY PERIOD. .:roll NICE PAY TOO;)
