Dods I feel the same way as you do. I have all A's & B's, but my science grades are killing me, I have a retake in Micro but got a B, and in A & P i have C's. I took the classes when I was 16 & 17 years old. Otherwise my grades are fine. I also did very well in my LVN program, graduated with an average of 90% in all my classes. but that's not looked at as far as who gets in and who doesnt.

I was wondering the same thing, if anyone has gotten in that has a 2.75 to a 3.2 in their pre reqs. So please anyone that has heard from anyone whos gotten in with these grades let us know!

Hello, I am about to apply to this program. I was wondering If volunteering has anything to do with acceptance. I have about 200+ volunteer hours as an Intern/volunteer at Pomerado Hospital and Palomar Hospital. I also will have an overall gpa of 3.3 by the end of this semester but my A&P 1, 2, and microbiology were all C's. I was wondering what the chances of me getting in are. I am going to take the Teas tomorrow also, so wish me luck :].

I sadly am most likely not going to get accepted to CSUSM due to the majority of the points awarded towards the pre-nursing core. Also they accept only 42 people every year and it is getting quite competitve :[, so that is why I am applying to National University, because they have more cohorts.

I had no volunteer experience whatsoever, and no healthcare experience. I worked in the insurance industry before applying.... But I had good grades in my pre-req's, so I don't know.... Why don't you contact someone in the nursing dept at NU and ask about your chances?....

Hi Murse520, I too am a volunteer. I volunteer at Sharp Memorial and one of the RN's on my unit is a NU nursing school instructor. She has been giving me a lot of advice on what I need to do to succeed in the nursing program. I asked her that very question about volunteering and she said it can't hurt at all. She said it also helps after you graduate and try to get a job. The hospitals would rather hire a graduate that is already familiar with their hospital. But I'm not sure if you get points for volunteering. I do know that the better the gpa, the higher the points.

Thanks SanDiegoNurse2bAt48,That's awesome how you have a NU instructor as an RN you can talk to. It's nice to know that the volunteering will actually help me in the future as well. I am learning so much as a volunteer from nurses and doctors, its great experience. Thanks a ton for the heads up on what I should expect! thanks :].

How many Intake do the National have for LVN_BSN.? I applied back in March and they sent me a letter indicating that the next class in May 2010.

I believe it takes longer to enter as LVN to BSN. They have 4 cohorts a year with 50 openings and then it goes by a point system giving new students priority. I'm not exactly sure though, you may want to call the nursing dept at NU.

The TEAS test is not that bad, its just basic Math, English and Science. For the essay, they will give you a topic and you have 90 min to complete.
