Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

I got my letter and was accepted into the April 2011 class. I was kind of worried but glad I got in... I guess I know what I'll be doing for the next two years.

Congratulations, classmate! ;)

Congrats you two, I'll be seeing you there!

Hi all,

After reading all the threads on National University, I've been able to get great insight as to how the program will be. I am still in the processes of completing my prereqs and still have a while to go. I was wondering if anyone can provide any info on the financial aid or direct loans. Unfortunately I wasn't able to qualify for grants and I've learned that the direct loan amount won't cover my whole tuition. Since I'm a first year student I will have to pay $2,100 on my own or through a private loan if I choose. My question is how have you guys manager to pay for tuition? Private loans? How many loans? I worry because I have poor credit.

Thanks!

this is my 2nd bachelor's degree, so my options are limited. I had to go with a private loan. If your credit is not-so-good, they make you get a cosigner. If this is your 1st degree and you are getting federal aid and grants, your credit is not an issue.

Good luck to you!

I agree with the statement above, but I would say yes and chance it. Over the course of the program I had wonderful understanding clinical professors like 90% of the time, where it was ok to miss a clinical (but you have to do about 12 hours of make up assignments)... I only had clinicals on a Saturday once and that was in Med-Surg I... All my other clinicals for the other classes fell sometime between Monday and Friday. Obviously things may change but if I were in your situation I would commit to it. PLUS - once you do get your clinical schedule for that class, and let's say you have Sat/Sun clinicals, it is pretty easy to switch clinical groups with a classmate to have different days. Hope that helps! :D

Hi prettyinpink!

I agree, I'm in 23 and people are pretty willing to switch around.

BTW, Nursing Theories and Models was cake. It was our first class.

Congrats on being near the end!

:yeah:

Hello!

I will be starting in January 2011 with cohort 25. I was wondering if anyone could give any advice on how to prepare? ie: any books to get? what to study? I want to try and get a head start! Thank you so much:)

Hello Expharmagirl,

Thats great to hear that nursing theories and models was easy. Any advice on how to prepare for this class?

Thanks :)

Thank you maiday, prettyinpink57 and expharmagirl for your opinions on whether I should say yes to being a bridesmaid in my gf's wedding!!

I was tempted to say yes but after my gf started sending me all the plans and even the tentative schedule for the week of the wedding, I decided to decline her offer. She wanted people to take an entire week with rehearsals, etc and I already know there's no way I can take an entire week to do a wedding. Perhaps if she lived in SD or even LA, I could extend myself for a week and run around back and forth but the fact that she is not in the immediate area makes it impossible. I really wanted to risk it but I thought about what a perfectionist she is and thought better of it

Hi jStarS14,

I also got accepted to Cohort 25. I learned that for our cohort, there were almost 300 applicants. Out of that, only 250 qualified and allowed to proceed to take the TEAS exam, and the top 50 were accepted. If you want to know about your specific overall ranking among those 250 takers, you can email the NU Nursing Department. I requested for it, so I know where I stand in the class. I look forward to meeting you!

;-)

I know I'm a little late in posting this announcement...

:redbeathe Just wanted to let everyone know I got accepted in to Cohort 25!!!!! :redpinkhe

Anyone else in Cohort 25??

For those of you applying, please do nOt give up hope!! This has been a long time coming for me. I remember almost exactly one year ago I was scanning these threads to find out more about the program, and now I was lucky enough to get in! Good luck to all!

Also, has anyone here applied more than once? What was your experience?

I got accepted to Cohort 25 starting this Jan 2011. When I took the TEAS, I met several people who were on their 2nd/ 3rd attempt to get into the BSN program.

All I can say is learn the material! Get the book in advance and start reading because it is booooooring! You will spend a lot of time coming up with answers to nonsense questions on the discussion board.
