Hi everyone! My name is Alissa and I applied to National University's generic entry BSN program in San Diego (for cohort 33). I just completed the proctored essay and the TEAS test today and now the wait begins. Just to clarify this is the program that will begin in January, 2013 at the Rancho Bernado campus.

Anyways, I calculated my points and figured I have somewhere between 84.5 points and 87.5 points. I don't know exactly since we don't have the score for our essay, but I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who also applied to this cohort and wanted to chat. Perhaps there is someone who has been admitted to a previous cohort who can give me some insight on how many points they got/what they wrote.

Best of luck to all of you out there!

Hey Alissa,

I am also applying to NU at the Rancho Bernardo campus but I applied for the Accelerated program. How did you calculate your points? Kinda in the dark on that one haha. It is going to be a long wait I am already anxious about how I did on the essay.

Have you talked to anybody that has previously attended NU nursing school?

hi CaptCrzy, I was accepted to cohort 32. The cut off score for our cohort was 35 points. Of, every cohort is different. My tease score was 84 and science gpa was 3.4 with no repetes. I don't know my essay scores because they didn't release them. Most people I've talked to were around the same level. Keep the faith! I was so nervous waiting to hear back. As a forwarning orientation fee is pretty steep. $2450 i know that SDSU is $2000 so it looks like you cant avoid the fee no matter where you go. Im just warning you so that you can get that fee together. It caught me off guard and i had to borrow from my parents. Good luck crossing my fingers for you.

Hey Toni82, Congrats on your acceptance! That is awesome. When you are talking about the cut off score being 35 points is that out of 100points possible and How did you calculate your points, I didn't know that it was based on points?? Thanks for the heads up on the orientation fee that is pretty steep.

Hi Toni82,

I also applied to National's cohort 33. I haven't taken the TEAS or written the essay yet. I do that the 21st of this month. How did you do? Any suggestions or tips?

Thanks!

Hi Alissa,

I also applied for this cohort--I just finished taking the TEAS yesterday and although I didn't get the score I wanted, I think I did fine. :D How did you calculate your Math and Sciences GPA?

Good luck to everyone else who applied!

Hi everyone,

I just finished taking the TEAS exam and the essay. I was a a bit disappointed with my score :( How did everybody do? and has anyone heard how many applicants have filed for this cohort? I'm really nervous and kinda sad. My points averages to about a 78-80. I know it's not a competitive score, but it's different for every cohort right? Well, the waiting begins! Goodluck to everyone!

Hey!

I got a 83% on my TEAS. it's not super competitive but it is a decent score. I am not sure how big the applicant pool is but you can always email and ask. And yea each cohort applicant pool is different so don't get discouraged!

Hey everyone! I have been looking at some old forums and last cohort they found out on the 11th or 12th of July. I hope that means that we will find out on the 11th or 12th of October but we will see. If I only knew what I got on that darn essay!! Its such a bummer waiting. The deadline for the next cohort is on the 10th of this month so I think I'm going to apply to it just in case I don't get into this one. To answer the question about how to calculate the points: I looked it up in allnurses and some girl had posted the formula in another forum. I had to use a Gpa calculator too.

Hi Toni82,

Congrats on your acceptance! What do you mean by the cut off score being 35 points for your cohort?? And do you know how to calculate the points for repeated courses? (Or does anyone else know how?) I saw the worksheet that National University uses to calculate the points, but it has the Anatomy and Physiology labs listed separately from the classes so I was wondering if they count the labs separately if the class I took included both lecture & lab portions. .

Evaluating Nursing Applicants:

Applicants are awarded points for the number of attempts it has taken to pass the core science and math prerequisites with a grade of "C" (73%) or higher. The classes evaluated are:

  • Statistics
  • Anatomy and Physiology 1
  • Anatomy and Physiology 1 Lab
  • Anatomy and Physiology 2
  • Anatomy and Physiology 2 Lab
  • Microbiology
  • Microbiology Lab

Attempt points are awarded as follows:

  • 1st Attempt = 3 points
  • 2nd Attempt = 2 points
  • 3rd Attempt = 1 point
  • 4th of more Attempt = 0 points

Thanks!

Anita

Hey CaptCrzy,

I don't think we are going to find out whether we are accepted until the end of the month. Or at least that is what the proctor said when I took the TEAS/Essay. And do we ever get to know our Essay score?

Hello everyone,

It's almost the end of the month! Just wondering if anyone has heard anything?! So anxious! LOL!
