National University April 2013 Cohort

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for those of us who applied for the April 2013 cohort at National University in San Diego. I believe everyone has taken their TEAS/essay by now. How did you all do? I'm anxious to find out in Mid January about the acceptance into the program.

Feel free to introduce yourselves so we can get to know one another.

Happy Holidays everyone! Does anyone know the start date of cohort 38 if we do make it in? I know April 2014 but which date specifically I am wondering. Thanks ;)

Did you find out if you got in?? I just found out this evening that I made it; I was so worried I wouldn't. I'm crossing my fingers for us all.

P.S. Hope to see you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in Lake Elsinore (close enough). I would love more information on the cert!

Yup, I got the news yesterday as well. I made it in too!!!!!!!!! :) I look forward to meeting you :)

Hi everyone in cohort 34. :) I will be in cohort 38 and would love to connect with you guys to get some occasional advice if possible. I don't believe NU has a mentor program but I would love to occasionally ask for some advice. Do you guys have a facebook page I can connect with you on or if not my email is [email protected]. Thank you sooooo very much. you have no idea how much this would mean to me. I am quite excited as well as nervous. :)

Hi guys! I figured I'd pay it forward to the incoming/applying students as others did for me during the horrible wait! ;)

I'm in Cohort 36 (about to start med-surg 1 next week...eek!) and I can honestly say I've been pleasantly surprised and pleased with the program thus far. National was not my first choice, but it has definitely been great thus far. I've had awesome instructors, and lots of support from staff as well. Everyone really does want you to succeed. Sure, there could always be a little more organization, but I've heard that about nearly all programs. They do have a mentor program and they're fantastic as well! Go to their workshops, and soak up everything they tell you! There's a ton of help available, you just need to take the initiative and seek it out.

Up until now, I was still able to work part time (as many in my cohort have) and still managed to be very successful. Although, I won't be working the next 4 months because we've had the bejesus scared out of us for med-surg! If I make it out alive Ill report back ;)

Good luck! Ask for help, don't stress and have fun! :)

Thank you so much for sharing this BlueEyes. That is great to hear. :) Wow I can't believe people still managed to work part-time while in classes. In orientation that video they played says we need to expect on average 71 hours per week to dedicate to studying, classes, care plans, clinicals, etc. That scares me lol :)

Yeah they did that to us too! I'm expecting that much study time going into med-surg, but didn't get anywhere close to that the last several classes. Don't get me wrong, I definitely studied, and it's not "easy", but it wasn't as excruciating as they made it out to be. I can't stress it enough to use your resources and get in your study groove to help later on!

Thank you so much for posting this :) By the way are the ATI tests for the classes in paper or computer format?

ATI tests are all on the computer, in the same format as the TEAS. The first one to count won't be until Fundamentals. We took one for pharm, but it was mostly just to get us accustomed to it. I know there was some discussion about future cohorts taking 2 pharmacology classes. Did they mention that during your orientation?

very good to know. thanks :) I can't remember if they mentioned that to us at orientation.
