Napa ADN Fall 2012

Hello Everyone!

I am planning on attending the ADN program at Napa Valley College in August and I was wondering if anyone else out here is doing the same thing.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! I will be attending their program in the Fall as well! Right now I'm trying to get some of my immunization shots done. I'm thinking of taking their BLS class in June or July. Good luck!

Hi, I'll also be attending NVC this fall 2012. I just finished my Physical exam and titers today, That's exactly 2 mos and 26 days till start of the program, I hope they're not too tight on the date, I almost made the cut off of no more than 3 mos before the start of sem. What have you guys been doing to prepare for the program? Also, have you guys gotten the 'receipt' that was mentioned on the acceptance letter. I remember it said that ----- will be registering us and once we got our receipts, we need to pay for it within 7 days.. I haven't gotten any receipts, I noted June 28 for the registration deadline... I just hope I haven't missed anything in the mail lately. :D

I will start with the BLS, and drug and background screening once the Student handbook becomes available.

I'm so anxious, I hope everything goes well.

Hi xsinshine! It's great to hear another fellow classmate will be in the class with me this upcoming semester. I did all of my titers already and I am up to date with my immunizations. I will be done with my physical this June and will take the NVC BLS class June 5th. Good Luck to you as well!

Hi chartreuse16! Great to hear from another classmate for the upcoming Fall semester! I emailed ------- and she said she will register all of us by Jun. 28th. Also, you should be fine with your physical exam because if it's around 3-5 months they are not too concerned about it.

I have scheduled for the BLS class Jun. 5 in the evenings at NVC to hopefully network with some of the upcoming classmates for the ADN class thie semester as well.

As far as preparing for the class, I have made sure my study/office is ready to go and clear of distractions. Saving up money with my current job because when August comes around, I will tackle on school fulltime. Also, I try to go on this forum and read up on any suggestions/advice with past and present nursing students.

Anxious/nervous/excited/worried all at the same time! :-)

Great to hear! wheew! I'm also hoping to get some info and heads-up from current/past students in this thread. The only thing I heard so far is that they may be canceling the RN-BSN or RN-MSN program with Sonoma State due to packed program. Well, I guess I only have to worry about getting my ADN for now. :D. Btw, have any of you started the Healthsteam online?

I have not started the Healthstream online, but will do that once I have my BSL and physical done in the next few weeks. Once the handbook becomes available, I will plan on getting my background screening taken care of.

Hi guys! I talked to ------ back in April and I think I remember her saying she will have the new handbook available to download early or mid June. I will wait until I have it downloaded and then I will schedule my drug and background screenings. I'm hoping we don't have to travel to Santa Rosa to do it! I have not started the Healthstream either, but we still have until the first day of class to get it done:D.

Hi xsinshine! I will do the same with the drug and background screenings once I download the handbook. The bookstore said the textbooks won't be available till about the first week of August. Let me know if you hear anything different.

Thank you for the heads up about the posting of names. I just want to say that I also use the same Ellen White quote on my signature block for my work emails. I thought it was great seeing that quote from someone else.
