Hey everyone, just wanted to see how many people applied to Los Angeles Valley College for the Fall of 2012. Or any other community college out there.

I applied and im still waiting but im scared i wont get in.

Don't lose hope!!! Only if you get a rejection! I still haven't got one yet. Hopefully it's by alphabetical lol or something. Just trying to give myself hope. And woah! Glendale starts so early! No summer break

Nope, no summer break for us at GCC! But, this is the way they save our sanity, I hear. We will have to do this summer session, and also one winter intercession before our fourth semester. But the other breaks, we will have off. From current GCC students, I have heard that the way they spread it out is a lifesaver. Anyway, attended the GCC orientation today, and I spoke with several other students who are waiting on LAVC! So, some people have heard already?? Hmmmm...

Hello, I also applied in GCC, Pierce, and Valley. I was accepted in Pierce and Yesterday got the acceptance letter from LAVC too. Now I dont know which to take, and I have to give my answer to Valley this Friday. Does somebody know how is the program in Pierce?

Dont be discourage, I got in Pierce and Valley, and my gpa is not high; as long as you meet the requisites such as the 80 percent in your sciences clases and you passed the TEAS teas you are fine. good luck!!!

Wow, I just found out today by phone that I was also accepted to LAVC! Oh my goodness...I cannot believe I got accepted there, too! I declined my seat at COC, I accepted at GCC, and will be starting classes next week, and now here comes LAVC telling me to pick up my packet tomorrow! Ugh. I have been set on GCC night/weekend program, but LAVC is only 2 miles from my home! Anyway, I guess I will go ahead and pick up the packet and hopefully go to orientation to learn more about their program. Oh well, thank goodness for options!

Oh, and GERMY, I would do LAVC just based on their NCLEX pass rate. It is about 10% higher than Pierce, if I remember correctly. Although, I have to say that in speaking with LAVC today, they seem a bit unorganized and kinda rude on the phone actually! At least they had good news for me at the end of the conversation!

Congratulations!!! It must feel great to have options. I didn't get a phone call so im assuming I got rejected lol but thats great for you! I also wanted valley cause it was closer to me than pierce. Iono If that helps with your decision haha good luck to all of you.

congrats on getting in! i know i should be positive but i just have a feeling i wont get in. lol

my gpa is actually not great at all.

GERMY, honestly i havent really heard any good things about the program at pierce. :(

teachers are way to strict and not very friendly.

teachers there basically tell you straight up that you wont even pass the course.

(arent teachers supposed to be positive?) from the 50 people that get into the program, only about 15 actually graduate.

How do you know that 15 people only graduate from Pierce? Do you know someone who went there? If so, that else did they say?

Well I got the call guys!!! I shall be attending valley next fall! So some lucky person will get my spot at pierce lol

Congrats, Tulipsonia! Yeah, so weird to receive a call instead of an email or letter from LAVC, but you're in! I will more than like be declining my seat at LAVC. I have already bought my books for GCC summer session...over $300!!! Ugh. Oh well, we knew this coming in, right? And, seeing how numbers go at Pierce, I bet they will be calling me soon, since I am only #19 on their wait list. I will decline there, if need be. I am super excited for GCC. The orientation seemed very personal, and our administration and office staff in nursing department have been very approachable. I have already started reading my massive Fundamentals in Nursing textbook. Back to reading now...Good luck, all!!!

How do you know that 15 people only graduate from Pierce? Do you know someone who went there? If so, that else did they say?

i was at the graduation which was like 2 maybe 3 weeks ago. not many were graduating. plus i heard from people who have attended there and also from a counselor there that the program isnt that great. (teachers arent very supportive, expect WAYYY to much from students. arent very flexible.) for example, ive been reading many great things about glendale. but pierce, not so many. :(

Thanks nurseoftheworld! And ya after I read that it was a call, I gave up checking my email haha. And wow 300 already just for books??? I'm racing to get all my things done cause choosing your clinical site is first come first serve!! All the vaccines I have to get -__- oh boy. It's really exciting! I'm sorry to hear that about pierce seeing how I was about to go there :/
