LAC+USC interview new grad RN

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

They said I would find out by the end of the week. The ER position is at LAC - USC. I feel like the interview went well, but you just never truly know until you get "the call"!

That's excellent! After my interview, they told me within a week also. It turned out I didn't hear from them until over a month later. So don't stress if you don't hear from them right away, just keep following up and letting them know you're interested. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the heads up CoCStudentNurse! I will definitely keep it in mind. The interviewing process itself can be so nerve racking......hopefully I'll find out sooner than later. :) Sounds like things are really moving along for you.....have they given you a start date?

No, they haven't. They don't give you a start date until your background check and health screenings have cleared. I have my first health screening on Monday and after that they will tell me when my 2nd one will be. Hopefully after both are cleared I will be issued a start date. Until then, one step at a time.

I am going to have my Initial interview at olive View medical center....what sort of questions do they ask ...i know u cant tell me exactly what questions they ask ..but are they behavioral ,very hard ? what to expect

@lucky007, the questions are not that bad at all. Each recruiter may ask different questions but the focus is on basic nursing knowledge that you got from school. You can also review some interesting cases you've had either from school or your work experience because there might be some situational questions. It's a nerve racking process but try to remain calm & relax, maintain appropriate eye contact, & don't forget to smile :) Don't rush through the questions, if there's one that you cannot answer right away, just pause, and collect your thoughts before answering. Hope that helps. Good luck!

@alexrocco: Congratulations on getting hired at Olive View! I also accepted a job offer there. Y***** from Nurse Recruitment called me this past Monday to offer a Relief RN position (Psych ER). I asked when I would be contacted next & was told that someone from HR will call to schedule a LiveScan appointment in ~1 month. She said to "be patient" & that it would be "awhile". If you don't mind me asking: Which unit did you get hired into? Congrats again & feel free to PM me so we can discuss further :)

Hi CoStudentNurse - Well the end of the week came and went as expected......no word yet. Did you call the Nurse Recruitment Office when inquiring as to when you would be hearing back in regards to the results of your interview? Thanks :)

Yes, that is where I called. I told them my name, when I had my interview and for what position and just asked if any decision had been made yet. Usually they said something like, "we're still doing interviews" or "no decision yet." Then I would just reiterate my interest in working for them and ask when I should follow up again. if you want, you can send an e-mail (in addition to the phone call) to the head nurse recruiter asking the status. I did that and, while she never answered me, she did remember that I followed up with her when she called to offer me the job.

i worked their for 7 years, passed the oral exam and still waiting, it's been 3 years, I hate to burst your bubble, but I couldn"t even get a job there, and I know some upper management, it's all about budget, and they don't have one, Good Luck i hope u get hired!

Thank you! Who is the head Nurse Recruiter? Is it ****? Also, do you know if they ever checked your references? Thanks again :)
