    Hi All,
I have a Bsc in Nuclear Medicine and interested in taking a second degree in nursing. I like this field too. Will it be a good idea to do nursing now. I don't care about the money I just have a passion for it. I want to do it. Any ideas? Thanks
If you have a true passion for nursing try to go to a few nursing schools in your area and see if you can talk to some students or faculty to get a true perspective on nursing before you choose it as a path. Ultimately the decision is up to you and only you if you want to go for it now, later, or never. There's no right or wrong answer.

Since my prospects are not looking great, I wanted to post in here and see if anyone else feels the way I do.

Hello my name is coconutgirl14 and I’m an unemployed New Grad
    Degree type: BSN
Time out of school: 6 months
    # of positions applied to date: 50-60 (mainly acute care positions)
Dream RN position: Oncology or Women's Health; or any RN position at a teaching/academic facility that really encourages professional development
Hospital experience: Non-paid, but I volunteer extensively
Where do you live: Greater LA area
What are you doing now: Volunteering at two hospitals, applying, trying my best not to be sad
    Favorite color: Navy blue
How you cope with unemployment: I write for a music/fashion magazine online. I also go to the gym frequently, since my physical fitness seems to be the only part of my life I can control at the moment.

Chin up, 6 months is nothing.

There was a slew of positions open recently (like, very, very recently). I hope you applied to them.

    Good luck!

Hello my name is natnatnaz and I'm an unemployed New Grad.
    License type: BSN

    # of positions applied to date: More than 50 easily, I lost count after that.
Dream RN position: CVICU or some type of disaster management job like FEMA
    Hospital experience: 0
Where do you live: Orange County
What are you doing now: Orienting for a caregiver position.
    Favorite color: Red
How you cope with unemployment: Listen to music and watch MGM movie musicals.

My thoughts are with you all and although we're competing for the same jobs, I wish you all the best and hope you (and I) get jobs soon!

Hello my name is ursuscalifornia and I’m an unemployed New Grad.
    License type: BSN
Time out of school: 6 months
    # of positions applied to date: A lot? Giving it a number makes me sad.
Dream RN position: Pretty open to whatever as long as it's inpatient. I like neuro.
Hospital experience: 8 months as a 'Care Partner' in a hospital in VA. Kind of like a CNA, but not licensed.
    Where do you live: NorCal
What are you doing now: Working at my old job as a coffee shop supervisor. Volunteering. Being depressed.
    Favorite color: Grey
How you cope with unemployment: Stay busy. Go for bike rides. Go to heavy metal concerts. Become increasingly obsessed with my cat.

I knew it would be hard to get a job in Cali when I moved back here, but it seems impossible, even with my impeccable GPA, experience and references. I don't want to move again. I want to put down roots. I've given myself a year out here to try to find an RN position. If that doesn't work I'm becoming a racecar driver. Or a dinosaur. Those two options seem more realistic right now than an RN position.

I am new to this thread but I think its a great idea. I am also a new grad currently looking for a job in the Bay Area. What I hate the most about not finding a job is all my friends saying "But isn't there a nursing shortage?" A little frustrating and makes me feel like a failure - hard to cope with being the perfectionist types that we are as nurses! Anyway, I found this website through Facebook and it lists an impressive amount of new grad programs by state and summarizes each with a link to the hospital website. I thought I was looking at all my options but this definitely opened my eyes to more and I wanted to share!
