O M G, I am soooo happy right now! Out of 585 applications, my name came up in the first 100, which means I should get into Spring 2014 at CCSF (they pick 50 for fall; 50 for spring). Nothing's set in stone until I get the... Read More

As I am preparing for the TEAS V I am just wondering...

Is it a paper test? Or computerized? Or both? (I'm taking it at CCSF)

    Will they provide scratch paper?

Do we really need to memorize all the conversions for English units of measurement and metric system?

Do they have any break(s) in between sections?

Did any of you have trouble finishing the sections in terms of time? (Ie. You ran out of time?)

    Any other tips?

    Thanks!
Althought I took mine at NVC, I believe they are mostly (if not all) administered using the same procedures. It is computerized; they provide scratch paper, but I found I barely used it; memorizing basic conversions is necessary; they don't give you breaks between sections, however, if you finish a section ahead of time, you are allowed to use that time to go to the restroom if you need to; I had no issues running out of time, I actually finished the entire test in just under 1hr, 45mins.

If you did well in your pre-reqs, you should do fine on this test. I used the ATI study manual and studied for about a week before taking the test and got over an 80%. I found the ATI manual to be a perfect indication of what would be on the test.

    Hey lauraline,
I took the TEAS on 5/1/13 at CCSF. It was computerized. you get your results as soon as you finish the test. We were not allowed to leave the room at all -even if we finished a section early. I agree with chasn - use the ATI study manual!!! It really prepares you for the test.

I'm glad someone brought this up! I don't know what it means for us if CCSF doesn't get their accreditation, but I will ask at the May 16 orientation.

Passed my TEAS V today! Thanks everyone for the advice. It wasn't as bad as I thought. But I'm sure glad I studied.

Now I just have to wait and see if a spot opens up for me.

Anyone else also on standby at CCSF?

I took my TEAs today at CCSF too!! I passed! Did the proctor say anything to you?? As I turned in my scratch paper and she confirmed my score, I asked if it would be automatically sent or if I had to send it electronically. She told me I got in the program then and there! She said to call the nursing dept. tomorrow and ask for my packet(?) I'm so confused though! I was 170 on the lottery list and #48 on the standby list. Maybe she confused me for someone else =P

    Congrats on passing!

Hm, that's interesting. She didn't say much to me. But when I turned my scratch paper in, I asked if there's anything else I need to do. She said no, and that she has my score already. She wrote my score on that clipboard and said congrats on making it into nursing. But I am still on standby, I'm #16. I don't think she knows who is on standby or not. I know there were other students taking the test today who were already in. So, the proctor probably just assumed we are all in. I'm not totally sure though. I think I am going to call the department and see what's up. What packet was she referring to? Let me know if you hear anything! I will do the same.

Hey lauraline, I called the nursing dept. and he was confused also. He said there is no "packet" at the moment and the dept. still has to process the remaining TEAs scores (since today is the last day to test). After that, they'll be sending out official acceptance letters. But even at #48, he said I am in "very good standing" so for you at #16 on the standby list, that's exceptional!! I have no idea what the proctor was talking about, but she got my hopes up!! Fingers crossed that we get in!

Thanks for the info. I wonder how many people they had take the TEAS V in preparation. And how many total are on standby?

I hope we find out if we made it in soon. I don't want to spend all Summer not knowing, I will go crazy! I think someone said earlier in this thread there is an orientation May 16. I wonder what that will be like. Whoever is going, let us know if there's any info to share, please?

If we are in good standing that is a good sign! I have even heard that someone who was in the #300s last year got offered a spot for Spring.

Oh, and the girl I talked to at the nursing department told me that if a spot opens for us, they will be calling people on the phone number provided in the application, not sending a letter. This was my understanding. Can anyone else confirm this?

If I hear anything I will report back! Good luck everyone.

If I hear something I will let you know for sure. It should be a good indication for you, since you are almost right after me on the list.

    Have a safe trip Volleygrl!
