U.S.A. California

I remember starting out as a pre nursing little guy reading all these threads tryiung to figure out if this is really for me and now i am offically an RN in California!!!!

I just saw my name on the website on wed....

I used hurst review and saunders to study for 2 weeks 8 hours a day.

I cant believe i am finally an RN!!!!!

I will start working in the San Francisco bay area walnutcreek on August 4th

I was a lucky new grad that applied, interviewed twice, one nurse recruiter, one panal, took a math test, wrote a 2 page single spaced essay, and was offered the job at John Muir medical Center.

I applied to every kaiser and sutter in the bay area, contra costa medical center, and some hospital in san ramon. I am so glad i will be working at magnet hospital.

I graduated from College of the Redwoods in Eureka CA with an ADN.

Everyone says it is very difficult to get a job in the bay area and i have to agree. It was VERY competitive to be hired at John Muir but i truly believe I have found my home there as an RN!

For all other new grads/soon to be grads I recommend applying early to all jobs even the ones you dont want, take NCLEX early, join CSNA, join your student nursing club, and enjoy life as it comes.

We all have a plan but but make sure you have several pathways to the end of the road it makes every thing easier.

Thanks all nurses for helping me throughout this very long road!!!

I am just getting started!

You give me such hope! After an excrutiating and thankless career as an elementary school teacher, I start nursing school in January. How nice it is to read a success story instead of whining and complaining! I've had enough of that in my previous profession. Sounds like you worked very hard for what you wanted. What a fantastic example of the American Dream!
