How did you land your first nursing job in 2009/2010

Hi, for all of us still job hunting, I am looking for stories from new nurses who landed a job. I know that if you work for a hospital and precept there your chances of being hired there as a nurse may be greater. For those who are not lucky enough to "know someone", how DID you pull this impossible feat off? Any creative strategies that may help your fellow new nurse get that first job? Any good websites, groups, or ways to fish out those new grad positions that sometimes are not even being advertised? Also, what are you're thoughts about working in a non-acute environment first, when you really hope to work in the hospital one day?
