Hospitals in Orange County and LA--NICU

U.S.A. California

Published

HI! I'm looking for info on NICU units in LA and Orange County. I lived in W. LA as a teen and am thinking about coming back to SoCal as a traveler or maybe permanently. My travel agency mentioned Long Beach Memorial, Pomona Valley, Comforce Children's (Is this really CHOC?), UCI, and Cedars. If I end up moving out there permanently, I don't want to commute--so any info on the area near these hospitals would be greatly appreciated as well!

Mission or Saddleback are the very best. Good luck and welcome home!

CHOC is "childrens hospital of Orange County" and they are the best in Orange county. There is Childrens hospital of Los Angeles in of course, LA. Mission hospital has a NICU but is considered part of CHOC.

UCI NICU is extremely busy and always in need of good nurses! I work in L&D there and the nurses that come to our deliveries seem happy and work together well. CHOC is also a great place to work. Both are teaching institutions with docs there 24/7. Both are Level III. CHOC has ECMO, UCI does not. Personally, I have lived in OC for 20 years now and would not want to move. It is crowded and the freeways can be tiresome, but it is close to everything and you can't beat the beaches. Good luck with your hunt! There may be sign-on bonuses at CHOC right now---worth a look!
