i just spoke with the Lady from GCC Nursing Staff. They sent out the invites for TEAS on Thursday April 19th. for those who are 2nd time applying, we all will get letters (accepted, not accept) by May 10.

Good luck

nurseoftheworld, thank you for this info! I checked out GCC's class schedule earlier and saw those very same hours on there. I can't believe class starts so soon I thought it was Fall 2012 you know! But I am blessed to be extended this opportunity esp it being my first time applying to GCC. I finished all my pre reqs there. I wonder if we have to be in uniform this summer or not.

No prob, Denisenike! With it starting so soon, I wanted to find out as much as possible. I mean, geez, our orientation is a week before we start school?!! I am sure that is where we will find out all the rest...uniforms, name badges, shoes, books....aaaahhhhh! I did reconsider my acceptance at COC for a minute, since that would mean the summer off, but Glendale has been my first choice since I started this whole nursing thing. The night/weekend schedule will save my sanity, and work so much better for my family. Hooray!

Ok, I just called to decline my spot for the weekend/evening program. Hope one of the alternates here gets a call really soon!

hi guys, I was an alternate, got a phone call from Glendale today for the weekday program. But i declined the offer already. Hope it will goes to another alternate. :D

I'm just on a wait list in San Diego and Santa Monica. I contacted someone from Santa Monica and she said that I would be contacted this Summer to take their test, so not sure how much longer it takes after that. In San Diego i'm not sure what number I am, I got put on the wait list right before they changed to multi-criteria.

Anyhow, I wonder how many alternates Glendale picks, I know I'm just dreaming but what if they go through all of the alternates? I have a list of schools to apply to next round anyways, I'm just tired of waiting.

Well, I did my drug screen and Live Scan today! Now, just gotta wait until orientation. I am so excited to finally get this show on the road! I declined my seat at COC, I am waitlisted #19 at Pierce, and LAVC hasn't sent out acceptances yet...but as far as I am concerned, it's GCC all the way! I really like the campus, and I guess I can look at the parking situation as an opportunity to work out! Those steps are awesome! Haha. I feel so fortunate and am anxious to start. Look forward to meeting some of you in a few weeks!

Hey guys,For those who didn't get accepted dont lose hope! I was originally denied all together and I received a call this morning if I was still interested! I declined because I got into another program.. Hopefully those who didn't get in will get a phone call as well! good luck!

Wow so you weren't even an alternate? Wow glendale has had quite a few people decline the seats when they are calling students which they originally sent rejection letters! Good for you though and I am glad you got into a program! What do you mean by denied all together

Congrats to all those who got in! I am the current president of the standard class ahead of you, if you guys have any questions, concerns, or things you want to talk about let me know. I am just finishing my first semester and I can fill you in on a lot.

Oh sorry to hear about this , Jchw81 !!!

Don't give up. are u first time applying? try to apply everywhere, even you think you cannot get selected. That's how i did. I have to wait 1 semester. But it's okie since I needed to take other class G.E. for RN-BSN later.

Where else did u apply? there are usually about 30 alternates. Im not sure this time tho.

We had no where close to 30 alternates, I believe around 5. 4 made it and one starts this Fall from what I remember

Trust me when I say the fact that they split up the schedule will be absolutely life saving for you. GCC hits you hard first semester. They start coming at you with NCLEX style questions even in the summer intersession and this is not common at most nursing schools. This is why the pass rate is so good. The other benefit to GCC is the teachers and especially the teacher you will have in summer. She is an absolute angel. The staff works hard to network so that their graduates have job opportunities when they get out One of my big questions at orientation was how many of their graduates have jobs within six months of graduating. GCC was a 60% with this and most schools range between 20-30% which is huge.

Also as far as clinical experience...I was on the floor with a student from PCC this semester and he seemed lost. He asked me what semester I was and was shocked when I said first because he was second and was far from as comfortable or as knowlegable as I was with the wound care nurse.
