Foreign student nurse applying for licensure in CA

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello all!

I am a foreign nurse educated in the Philippines with my BSN. I am seeking licensure in CA. I submitted my paperwork mid June and my check got cashed first week of August. I've never heard anything from CA. They did say that the processing takes 10-12 weeks. Also, my credentials was sent to me by my school in a sealed envelope. Should I mail this to CA? Or wait for them to ask for it? What else should I do now while waiting to hear from CA? I also read about registering for Pearson Vue and paying the fee while waiting to hear from the board.

Appreciate any suggestions or advice. Looking forward to hear from you all in a similar situation.

Hi zeekee! Im a foreign nurse from Philippines too. Better to call the BON in CA as what i did and ask about the status of your application in that way you will know what else you need to submit.

Hello! I was wondering if you already heard any response from the CA BON? How long did it take you to process your application too?

The transcript should be mailed directly from the school of nursing to the board of nursing.

Oh I see. Thank you! Shouldn't I just wait for the CA BON to ask for it?

The board must have your transcript and RLE breakdown so they can start evaluating your application. Depending, on your transcripts they may ask for more but initially the transcript and RLE hours breakdown must be submitted.
