Fall 2013 BSN Samuel Merritt University

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everybody,

A week ago I mailed my application for the Fall 2013 BSN program at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, Ca. Anyone else want to wait for results with me? I am currently taking 3 courses in progress until mid May! I am so nervous !!!

@niederbrachj - were supposed to find out "mid june". But the 15th falls on Saturday... So maybe we'll find out oh june 17th? Just a few more days.... Its going to be the longest few days of my life. Its supposed to be an email too!

I got an email and was not accepted or put on the wait list : (. I guess I will start preparing my Spring application. Did anyone get accepted or put on the wait list?

I got denied :(very bummed, but I too will be working on ramping up my application for Spring. Good luck to all!

Sorry to hear that @emileePeterson : (. I wasn't expecting to get in for the Fall because of the transfers from the partner schools and because I had 4 classes in progress but it still sucks getting a denial email! Is this the only school you applied to? I really want to know how many transfer students were accepted and waitlisted!

Yes @niederbrachj... Only place I have applied thus far.. I too had 4 classes in progress as well. I emailed them back just to see stats for fall semester (if they will give them out- regarding transfer spots available etc) and how I can better my application for spring. Ill let u know if I hear anything.

I didn't get in either as a transfer student... The counselors told me going in that there weren't many spaces... but I've heard that Spring was much easier since most of Fall seats are given to 2+2 students. I have a previous degree and am gonna just take pathophysio & pharm and apply to ABSN spring. Good luck to you all! Don't lose hope...

MsMarie- That is a good idea. If you live in the bay area there is an excellent professor that teaches Patho at Merritt college. He is very hard but you will come out knowing your stuff! His last name is Scott. EmileePeterson Let me know if you hear anything! I am going to make an appointment with a counselor to help me with my application and ask them about the stats.

@niederbrachj thanks for the recommendation! yes, please do share if you ever find out the stats... i'm curious to see how many, if any, transfers they admitted into the program...

Hi all, I'm a transfer student from csueb and I got wait listed. I was just curious if anyone knows how many people they usually take from the wait list? I don't even know my number because the person I was supposed to email is out of the office until Monday...another waiting game!

MaryKDarling, do you know Marissa or Jessica? They both are in the Spring 2013 class. I met them at the seminar and we keep in touch and they give me a heads up on what to expect. :)

Thank goodness for some idea from others who have already started. I also had a friend who went through the ABSN program and LOVED it!

Yes, I do know them! They are two of my closest friends in the program :)

Sounds like there wasn't much room for transfer students in the fall, which is what we suspected! Try again in the Spring! Like I said, there are a few girls in my cohort who did not get in for the fall but were accepted the subsequent semester. Let me know if you guys have any other questions regarding SMU.. Unfortunately I do not have any information regarding admission :(

MsMarie- I had a counseling appointment on Friday and the counselor said they only admitted 10 transfer students. She also said there is no limit on how many people they put on the wait list. I was not waitlisted and I told her that me ot being waitlisted concerned me. She said she couldn't figure out why I wasn't at least waitlisted and said my application looked good. Another thing I learned from this appointment is they do not use your cumulative GPA from all of the classes you have ever taken but the GPA from the prerequisites they require. This is good for me because my regular GPA is 3.6 but my prereq GPA for SMU is 3.9. My science GPA is 3.0 which sucks. I think that might be why I was not waitlisted along with the fact that I had 4 classes in progress. My overall TEAS score is 79% Reading 89% and Math 100% so I can definitely improve. I did not study as much as I should have so I will do better when I retake it. Will you retake the TEAS?
