Everest College Ontario RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

That works out nicely. I split mine up into 3 days Monday 10-6, tues 10-2, and Thursday 2-6.

are you starting LVN-RN? how much tuition fees?

Yaaay!! Can't wait to meet you ladies in person!!! Hopefully we recognize each other :D

r u starting LVN-RN?

crap I didnt mean to like your comment. Just reply. I'm going to be honest because the waiting game sucks. They interview based on score, and they told me that they only started interviewing late November because they were running late. I scored and overall grade of 87% but my english and math which we were told were the only ones to count was around 91%. That being said, it's possible for people to have a high score and just suck in their interview. So all hope isn't completely lost. Classes start January 14th. Either way I wouldn't worry to much about it. It's still a very expensive program, and the people who make it are going to be pretty much bums for the next couple of years because of the accelerated program, that doesn't sound fun to me at all. It's like LVN school all over again but longer and harder. The junior college route is longer, but alot less expensive, and you'll still be able to work. So it's pros and cons man. I hope whatever happens, it works out for the best for you. I check this every so often so feel free to ask me anymore question.

hi, did you start LVN-RN or ADN?

Tuition is roughly $60,000. I am in process to hopefully start in July. U need to go to an information session and the next one isn't until August. From what I have heard not many people get into the bridge lvn-RN and have to do all 2 years.

Anyone else in process right now. I have my interview on Tuesday!

Thank you so much this helped out alot!:)

Hello all! I've been reading this thread since page one. I'm a Veteran and was geared towards Everest for a number of reasons. I just found out that WCU in Ontario and North Hollywood have waiting lists for the veteran affairs yellow ribbon program. So there goes being able to get in. I will be at the info session this Tuesday to get the ball rolling here. I'm hoping that the use of my post 9/11 Gi bill and grades from my LVN program (graduated with honors) along with community service will help out during the selection process. I know it may seem stupid, but I so tempted to drop off my resume with the admissions rep. Btw, I'm a new LVN that just passed NCLEX 2weeks ago. Anyone trying to get in to Everest for the January class; feel free to respond.

If you have questions, most can be found on this link. http://www.everest.edu/multimedia/catalogs/Ontario_Metro_Catalog_060112.pdf

Google works wonders when you use it properly. Lol

Andrew, I am also a veteran but unlike you, I am about to finish the rn program in 5 months. I am receiving the yellow ribbon program but not for every quarter because I already had all of my pre-reqs done at chaffey so there are some quarters that I am not full time. Dropping off your resume, just save your time and paper cause it wont help. its all about how well you do on the hesi, then how well you do in your interview, and so on. don't be discourage by how many people are in the info session, cause there will be a lot. and don't ask about the lvn bridge, cause in reality, there is no such thing. just take it for what its worth and when the faculty tell you that its going to take up all of your time for the next 2 years, believe them. I hope this answered some of your questions but if you have more just ask away.

Thanks for the info. I have decided to not go with Everest due to the school not being ACEN ( formerly NLN) accredited. Meaning, those classes will have to be taken again if I go for a BSN at another school. I wish you all the best with the rest of the program though. Now, if I can only find a LVN job that will be super flexible with school. :)

lol, they are going to be here in 3 weeks so that the school does receive the ACEN. But even if the school doesn't receive the ACEN the credits do transfer to a few schools for your BSN. As a matter of fact we just talked with grand canyon university last Wednesday about transferring. but oh well best of luck to what ever you decide to do.

Does GCU allow you to have your clinicals and theory side by side for each particular subject as required by the board of Nursing with the state? If so, that's great! Good luck with Everest and I hope you guys do receive the ACEN accreditation!!!!

Earlier I posted I was not going to go to the info session because they are not accredited. I looked at the ACEN website, and it shows that the school is a candidate for accreditation. The program is under review from august 2011 to august 2013. I had to go through the ACEN meeting notes to find this, as it's not listed on the website in a graph or chart like other schools. Being a candidate does not mean the school will become accredited. But, I figure what can a info session hurt? And, what if they do get the accreditation this year? All good reasons to sit down and listen to what they offer.

As far as entrance is concerned, is the HESI a cumulative score or do I have to score a certain percent on each tested section? I know that west coast asks for a cumulative HESI for their BSN. I had a chance to download the Everest student guide from 2012-13; and it states 70percent in each section that is tested for HESI. Which has me wondering why; as the school is by far ACEN accredited right now. Or perhaps they increased the percentages while they are under ACEN review. If you know, please fill me in. :)

Anyhow, thank you for letting me know about the ACEN and Everest! I'll be there this Tuesday to ask questions and what not.
