Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Long, after you attend the nursing orientation, how soon can you get scheduled to take the Compass & PSB-RN test? And after you pass the two tests, how long was the whole process from the time you were interviewed by the Nursing Director to completing the financial aid process?

I'm gonna try my best to give you guys some insight with the common questions about this program since there's been quite a few threads all asking the same thing.

Here attached is the Everest College information packet; the same packet you'll receive when you attend their orientation session:

So in short, study and pass both entrance exams. Schedule an interview with the administrator and shine in your interview, have a promising answer to the essay portion of the process. Administrator and faculty will review the pool of applicants interview, GPA, essay, etc. and pick 60-80 students to go through financial aid. The first 40 students to complete the financial aid process will be allowed to registered for classes, so it's basically first come first serve like some have stated in the past. That's basically the process in cliffs... and to answer your question, emt_anderson, the tuition cost (I don't know the exact price) is at around $50,000. Cost varies and is lower when you have nursing prereqs completed and cleared by the school. As far as the education quality, I haven't heard a complaint from any of the current students that are on this board, and the few students I've ran into in person stated that although tough (given), they have no complaints about the program.

I haven't been around on the boards lately and I've missed a lot of important stuff about the school! Long, thank you very much for the detailed information! I'm really serious about going to this school even though I'm almost 50 miles away! In the meantime, I'll go through the packet and I'll definitely be asking questions afterwards. :)

I will soon be an Everest College student come next month and I just wanted to give you guys my insight through the whole process. The application process started for me back in February 2010. The whole month of February was designated for information sessions. There were multiple information sessions available for that month that I was able to fit into my schedule. I work full-time and live about 50 miles away from Ontario but I made the committment to attend the information session. It's actually very helpful and you get an information packet that explains the process of applying. After the information session is over is when you will be able to sign up for the first exam (Compass exam)

The month of March was for students to come in and take the Compass Exam. Its not very hard at all. I have been out of school for a year so I did some review with sample questions I pulled off from the internet.

The month of April I went in for the PSB-RN test. This test was a little tricky and I got a nursing entrance book to help me.

Then came the interview and then a couple of weeks later I got my acceptance phone call. The program is about $50,000 for the whole 2 years there. I was in all of your guys shoes so I hope this information helps whoever's out there trying to get in.

I'm just wondering what the interview is like? I tend to tense up and somehow forget everything I want to ask and say when I'm in an interview. So I'm super scared whenever I hear I need to do one. :eek:

Does Everest offer evening and weekend classes and/or do they select a schedule for you?

Congrats jane with being accepted. I didn't receive a phone call this past motnh so I'm gonna give it another shot come August... :( sigh! Keeping my heads up for next time though... again congrats jane! Please stay in touch with us with your journey! :)

Spolini, the interview wasn't that bad at all. I was nervous but once I sat down with one of the nursing instructors she put me to ease. She was nice and understanding and pretty much there to see what I could offer to the nursing profession. If I had to rate the whole application process for me, the compass test was the easiest, then the interview then the PSB-RN test.

ToysDream, from what I can tell from seeing first quarter schedule of classes, there are no weekend classes. Once clinicals start come third quarter, weekends will be designated for clinicals. For first quarter, classes are offered either in the morning, afternoon or evening and some of the prereqs are offered as online classes.

So when they say first come first serve, should I go to the earliest info session? The lady that answered the phone said they start in august on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but with school I wouldn't be able to go until the end of August. Does this mean I would have less of a chance since many people may have taken the test and gone through interviews? I live about 6 hours away from the school so its hard for me to find a good time to go down there.

Hey guys, just giving all prospective students an update with the entrance exams.

I was informed in my rejection e-mail that they are phasing out the COMPASS exam and now replacing it with the HESI-RN exam, so study up! There's a great thread on this board that reviews over the HESI A2 exam that could be viewed here: HESI ADMISSIONS EXAM A2 (2009 tips) - Nursing for Nurses

I am new to this site so please bear with me. Jane D....I was also excepted and starting on the 12th. Have you received your class schedule or notification of when orientation will be?

Spolini, you can go to any info session that fits into your schedule. I guess it would be more beneficial to go sooner than later since after the info session is when you get the chance to sign up for the compass test. That was how it was done when I went.

Eroxy20, yes I was given my class schedule although I am still waiting for classes to transfer over. Hopefully they will tell me come this Thursday. This Thursday, July 9 is the date of the orientation. You should have received an email by now.

I wonder how the HESI exams will be like???
