Economic downturn and contracts

U.S.A. California

Published

Noticed that someone posted the other day about a facility that required the new grads that they had hired to sign a contract for two years andn then cancelled out the orientation that was so start now. They also told these nurses that they were not going to have any orientation programs before the end of the year and they were still under contract to them and would be required to buy-out their contract if they wished to back-out of it.

This is 100% illegal for them to do since they are not living up to their part of the contract by having work for the nurse. You cannot expect an employee to wait a year without work while waiting for them to have work for them again.

Please contact the Labor Board as well as the Attorney General for CA concerning this problem if you have encountered it. It is most definitely not legal or binding.
