Diagonostic Medical Imaging at Kaplan in North Hollywood

U.S.A. California

Hey guys,

I know this isn't directly related to nursing programs, but I was wondering if anyone has ever gone through a diploma or certificate program for medical imaging. I'm thinking of applying to the certificate program for Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography at Kaplan college in North Hollywood, but the website doesn't give much information, and the admissions representative hasn't gotten back to me yet. Does anyone have experience with this program, or this school? How much does it cost to go through the program? And do you think it benefited you, in terms of gaining Healthcare experience?

I’ve spent the last 4+ years reading posts on allnurses while waiting to be admitted to NS. This is the first time I’ve found it absolutely necessary to reply. You see I went down that road, trained in echo-cardiography at an unaccredited program north of where you mentioned. I’ve wasted the last 8 years and 50K+- in costs, tuition, and lost income…. do not attend anything but an accredited program that can be researched from the CAAHEP website. If it isn’t there, you’re wasting everything. Really!

I’m currently a NS in Sacramento after updating my prerequisites and wait listed for 3 years. It would have been soooo much better had I done the traditional route. (Grossmont or Orange Coast in Ca.)

So, look… Echo is the coolest thing! So go for it, super hard didactic and imaging views require 2 years of training your hand/eye. But it’s a FANTASTIC job. Just don’t make a mistake getting non-accredited training. I’ve overcome a lot of obstacles in my 51 years, but that one took its toll. Good luck!

wow, so sorry for your situation: $51k spent and you are not happy.

i agree with you that nobody should go to non accredited school. my friend is a current student at western career college in sacramento for a sanographer program. when she applied, the school told her that they are accredited. later, she found out that the school is accredited and not the program. then, they said that they never intended to lie and that the program will be accredited in just next 6 months. well, my friend is now in her 3 rd semester and it still didn't happen. i believe with huge pending law suit they will never get approved. i know the other student who graduated from the same program earlier, couldn't find a job, however they promised to find it for her. my friend is so unhappy with the program. she is struggling with some practical and school just saying that she should drop from the program. i can't believe it. taking that much money and not even encouraging and helping? she is saying that if she would have known everything before, she wouldn't apply there. i thought about going to wcc for that program, but not anymore.

good luck on making a right decision!
