Cypress college RN program

U.S.A. California

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!:yeah:

Sarah0987 - I applied to Cypress as well, and was told acceptance letters will be mailed out 1st week of December. Cypress does take a long time to review their applications.

This waiting period is killing me. Do you mind me asking how many points you got for Cypress?

I had 30/30 points.. How about you?

Yea, I have 30 points as well. I think we should be able to get in Cypress. But until I receive that acceptance letter, I'm still nervous

I think 30/30 is really the cutoff now... So people who don't have 30s are really aren't competitive anymore. Fingers crossed we get accepted! Are you applying to gwc, in January?

If I don't get in to any school this time, then I'll apply to Goldenwest, Saddleback and Cerritos in January. Just hope we will get in somewhere soon, so we can start Nursing school. Let me know as soon as you hear from LBCC, they said letters will get sent out 6 weeks from end of application period, so that should be next week

Sarah0987 and skymail212 hope I got those right. When I applied we got a response on December 10th and they pretty much stay on track. Your right 30 points for the spring class is really what a lot of people have. Then i think they go by GPA after that. The only salvation for the others is how late Cypress accepts compared to a few other schools. I wish you both the best of luck I'm set to graduate in December if all goes well and Gods willing. (Don't wanna jinx it) Cypress is amazing and you will not find a better program anywhere. I hope we can welcome you to the Cypress family real soon.

Thanks Gizelle. I've heard a lot of great things about Cypress Nursing Program, and it's my first choice. Good luck with the last semester, and I'm sure you will make a great RN!!

Thanks Gizelle and congrats on your last semester at cypress! How did you like the program? Anything you wish you could have changed? Also where were your clinical sites? I'm also applying to gwc, CSULB, and cerritos. Plus Lbcc if I need to again in march. It's so competitive and it seems like every round of applicants keeps getting stronger and stronger! Luckily cerritos and Lbcc don't take the top students but give everyone a fair chance... (Cerritos is lottery, lbcc picks from three GPA pools)

Sarah0987 well I have really enjoyed the program and I think joining our CNSA chapter really helped (student nursing association) I was able to be involved and ask questions to senior students because we were all intermingled there during meetings. Other than that I would not have signed up to be team mom for my daughters softball league not my wisest decision. Just needed to focus on school. I love going to cypress and the response we get at clinics because we are from Cypress is obvious they like Cypress students. The more competitive thing happens every spring those are the high points pool then it relaxes or fall but that's been going for awhile. My group had over 750 applicants and 46 were accepted. Also i had 30 points and a 4.0 so i didn't want a lotto school that wouldn't give priority for grades cause i had them and worked hard for them. Clinical sites always can change but I had st Jude's CHOC Anaheim Regional and west anaheim and for my final rotation it hasn't been assigned yet. Good luck let us know what happens

I am currently waiting for acceptance into the RN program at Cypress College. I am actually doing remediation and finished it already so I hope I get picked for the Spring 2014 class. I wanted to know how the weekly schedule was like for you on your first semester? Was it a Monday thru Friday kind of deal or was it random days? I looked at the current schedule on Cypress College and only saw Monday and Tuesday classes.

TIA =)

Hi I wish you all the luck in getting accepted. Now 1st semester is Monday thru Thursday full time like 8:30 - 2 or 4 depending as far as I can remember and this goes on for about 4 weeks then you start at clinicals and that's 1 or 2 days a week depending on your facility runs for

12 hours 1day or two 8 hour days. At this point it's lecture on Mon & Tues some lab stuff on Fridays occasionally. Just plan on full time hours with studying class and clinicals you will be busy.

1st semester is very time consuming because they have to get your knowledgable with patient safety. It really seems like a lot at the time but its for everyone's benefit. It helps make you a strong organized student as you progress. Anything else feel free to ask.

Thanks for the response. That helps me a lot.
