CSUSM ABSN Fall 2012

Hi. I'm also applying for the Fall cohort. I'm sure if you have most of your prereqs done, they will definitely take you into consideration.

I'm also super stressed. I sent out my application documents about a month ago and haven't heard anything back yet. I just called the absn department and they said there's still space available for Fall and that it's not unusual to not hear back until 8-10 weeks after you submit your documents.

Hopefully we'll hear from them soon!

Hello...I'm applying for Fall 2012 Cohort. Anyone else? I'm taking Microbiology right now and hoping to still have time to get accepted for Fall 2012 after I complete this course. Cutting it close as I heard they will start accepting for Fall 2012 in the next few weeks!!!
Anyone waiting to get in for Fall 2012? Starting to get nervous/stressed about getting into the program!

Yeah, I applied in late January for Fall 2012 and haven't heard a peep. It's weird not even getting a reply that they are processing the application or anything.

Anyone heard any response from anyone at CSUSM for ABSN?

Well, let me correct myself...I just got a generic letter with an advising worksheet today from CSUSM (dated March 20) so I'm guessing the process is still in motion. I don't have any pre-reqs left though. I'll probably email to see when they might start offering admission for Fall 2012.

Anyone else out there waiting for letters or any other signs of acceptance?

That's awesome susan. I submitted mine early Feb. and I'm still waiting for my worksheet. Like you, I finished all my prereqs too. I sent several emails to one of the advisors and here is a copy of some of the thing she said. I hope it answers some of your questions.

"My name is *******, one of the academic advisors for the ABSN Extended Learning Program. That is great that you have many items in line to complete the ABSN application. We admit 44 students in the Fall for the Temecula campus.

In answering your question about what you can do to increase your chances of getting selected, I will refer to our point system. As you know applicants will be ranked on a points system. Points are given for the quality of the 1.) Nursing Core GPA; 2.) Last 60 credits GPA; and 3.) the TEAS score.

It is the TEAS score where we encourage students to utilize for bringing up their ranking points. It is the easiest and quickest way to pick up additional points. For information regarding the TEAS exam, you can contact ATI Testing to create an account and for additional testing dates and locations: 800-667-7531 or www.atitesting.com. Make sure you take the TEAS Exam Version 5.0 if you plan to take it.

We ask student to give us at least a couple of months until an applicant receives their evaluation. Our admissions process is a rolling admissions process meaning it is constant until we fill the cohorts. Once we fill one cohort, we start filling in for the next cohort. There is no month designated for admissions notifications; it can happen dynamically. You may want to contact me in another month (in April) what is the status of your ABSN application.

I just got an email offering admission for Fall 2012 to the Temecula campus! Anyone else? I have until April 22 to accept.

I was also accepted for Fall 2012 at Temecula. I sent the majority of my transcripts back in November/December and I sent my last transcript about 2-3 weeks ago. I received my acceptance email today.

Hello everybody! To those who are taking prereqs and applying, hang in there and best of luck!!

To those who got admitted, congrats!! I got my acceptance letter exactly a month ago for Fall 2012 at Temecula.

I live in San Diego, but I'm currently looking for an apartment near the Temecula campus and a roommate. If anyone is interested, we could try to ease the monthly rent to help with the cost of tuition.

I was accepted into the ABSN Fall 2012 as well!! Yahooo!!

Where do you guys live? I live in Carlsbad and was hoping to find someone to carpool with.

Also, has anyone else already taken the three upper division general ed classes? I heard the first semester is just BIO 323, ANTH 301, and PHIL 345. I already took ALL of those so I get to sit out the first semester :) aka no tuition fees, no gas for me!
