CSULB Fall 2014

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey everyone!

Did anyone else apply to CSULB for Fall 2014? The school app was due last Saturday, and then we have the month of January to submit for the School of Nursing.

Based on previous threads, it looks like we are invited to an interview about a month after the deadline, and the cutoff was ~9.1 points.

Here are my stats so we can see how we stand this year!

Science GPA: 3.58

GE GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 97.3

TEAS Math: 100

I think that works out to about 9.4 points... the average keeps rising each year, so it would be nice to see where we all fall!

Good luck everyone :)

Well looks like you are allllllll ready for nursing and know it all, Joe the EMT.

Best of luck.

Well, I know what is necessary to succeed in my goals. I have NO idea what school will be like, except that it will not be easy...

I don't know if that was a shot at EMTs, but I am paid to give college micro, physio and anatomy lectures and workshops. So I assure you, I am not at dumb as I look...

;)

I am just expecting the worst and hoping for the best.... I don't know it all, but I do have goals...that's all....

B's get degrees

.............

I'm not saying that I get B's but I've heard that the CSULB nursing program is difficult.

I'm not worried about getting into a masters program because I'm a 4.0 student, I received a 99.3% on the TEAS and a Licensed EMT, Phlebotomist and Vocational Nurse.

So I'm only concerned with being #1 in the Spring 2015 class because I know I'm better than everybody else and I'm confident I'll get in.

Wow.... My name is joe, I have a 4.0. I am also an EMT, I teach anatomy, physio, bio, micro bio, and chem, and many of my students are vocational nurses at Mission College. I got a 91.3 on the teas (i skipped a line and filled in some wrong bubbles, and screw that english comp section...lol)

and... I got my mom through her phlebotomy class, although I wasn't registered. We have a lot in common...lol

In fact, most everyone that got in has a 4.0 and did well on the TEAS. You're not quite as special as you think....

Looks like you'll have some healthy competition for #1 seat....

:)

I will. I'm excited, nervous, scared, all of the above haha.

I just got into the Spring 2015 program!! Not sure if it is the trimester or semester but orientation is in Dec. I wanted to ask you a couple questions that I know the "moderator" will delete. Would you mind e-mailing me??? [email protected]

Thank you!

Books vary from each semester - the first semester is the most expensive bc of ATI. However some semesters are as little as $100 for books. Just be smart, ask students in the higher semesters if they are selling books, rent them, and make sure the class actually uses the book.

it gets better.

I with I knew both of your names!

Hello~

I am about to start the nursing program at CSULB this fall, and I wanted to ask those of you who are in the program a question! I'm debating whether or not I should take pathophysiology and/or pharmacology this summer before the program because I found an availability at an approved school and just think it would make my 1st semester more "easier." However, I realized that money-wise, I would actually be spending more taking it at a CC during the summer because tuition at CSULB is the same once it's past 7 units. What do you guys think?

For those who did, how difficult was it taking both those courses together with clinicals and all that? Would you recommend taking them before the program begins even though I will be paying slightly more?

Thanks in advance!!

It will definitely make your program easier. Plus, the testing process at CSULB is very difficult.Take them before you start the program. At least pharm. Pharm is tough. Patho was easy. You'll be happy you did and be able to focus on the other courses, especially because N200 is difficult to get an A. Need 93%

thanks for the tip! one last thing I forgot to mention. Both those classes i found are online courses. with that said, I'm afraid that taking it online, I will not be able to thoroughly learn the material because I can just zoom past the lessons. I don't mind doing that as long as I get an A, but do you think this will affect me when I study to take the NCLEX, or just even the knowledge I should have as a nurse? pretty much what I'm trying to say is, I don't think I will really learn the subjects taking it online, and is that okay?

thanks again:nurse:
