I've gone back and re-read some of the posts and have a question about the "points" many of you are talking about. Some of you talk about 20 points out of 25, but I have no idea what you are talking about. Can anybody help me figure out my points?

@Alyssa, if I'm not mistaken, I think the points system only applies to the BSN program.

No the pt system does not apply to ELMN.

    Hey everyone!

Just wanted to keep in touch with those who have applied for the 2013 Summer ELMN program! I was hoping we can share our thoughts through this journey! I believe we're supposed to hear back for interviews in the next few weeks. Does anyone know which week we should anticipate this??

FYI, I go to CSULA and I will warn you guys this is probably the worst nursing program in California. Unless it is your only choice of school or you are the world's most docile person I would not wish this school on my worst enemy. Get ready for terrible professors, useless textbooks, a dysfunctional financial aid office, and the worlds most apathetic director of nursing. Please, save yourself some heartache and ask to speak to some current students before making your decision to attend this school.

I'm also a current csula msn student and former member of the elmn program, i don't think it's as bad as this. Yes csula has its faults but so does every school. Like everything in life the program is what you make of it. Feel free to ask me questions and I will answer them honestly.

thanks for all of your insights on the elmn program... it's much appreciated! from what I've read in previous years' threads, it seems like there were a lot of issues with finding preceptors for the NP portion. Is this a problem for all the NP specialties, or just FNP specifically? And what are your thoughts on the nurse educator program concentration that is offered?

Finding preceptors has been an issue yes. The school is finally doing a little more to help the students find preceptors but if you have someone that can precept you, I would make that happen. I don't know a lot about the education track, I'm not on it and I don't have a strong interest in it. I feel like if you get an np you have a lot more options then if you take the nurse educator track. You can get a nurse educator job as an np but you can't get an np job with a nurse educator degree.

cnszja, please tell us more about why you say its bad? I applied for the BSN program. I have heard some iffy things but then again its Aa university, I can't expect perfection. Do you have examples you can share please?

@cx I just calculated my points today (i was scared of what to expect) and for sure I am applying now I feel better now.Its funny how things change though, I wanted csulb so bad back then and now csuci is the one i REALLY want (probably since its so close to home) did u decide to apply anywhere else?
