CSU San Marcos ABSN Summer 2015

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello Everyone! Just wanted to start a thread about the Summer 2015 Cohort for the ABSN program at CSU San Marcos. I looked at the previous Summer 2014 thread and they found out admission decisions on February 10! That is coming up soon!!! This can be a forum to discuss questions about the program, application stuff, or (if we all get into the program) we can discuss everything else that comes after getting accepted!! Good luck to everyone!

hey sunburn 123! I am applying this upcoming Monday because I'm taking the TEAS over this Sat. I did poorly..82% I can do better! I didn't want to apply until I had all of my materials including my new TEAS score! This may push me back to fall 2015 though but I'm ok with that! I'm so excited to finally be applying to Nursing School!

I am acactually retaking my TEAS test this Friday. I previously got an 85.3%. I am excited to hear back from nursing schools soon! I applied to other places as well. San Marcos seems to be one of the least competitive schools. Probably because they offer so many spots in all 3 semesters!

That's a good score! ya it doesn't seem to be too competitive. I only applied to one other school, Concordia University Irvine and that is actually my top choice! did you by chance apply there?

No I didn't. I appied to 3 SoCal schools... Northridge, San Marcos, and SDSU. I applied to Sac State, Chico, and UN-Reno up here. I live in NorCal so I'm hoping to get into schools here so I don't have to go very far. But honestly, with how competitive schools are now, wherever I get in, I will go!

My previous TEAS score isn't as great as it seems. I had applied to Chico and Sac for the Spring and didn't get in. If I had had like an 87% I probably would have!! So I'm retaking it for that reason. It's crazy how close I was to getting in to each school.... but I have taken all my classes and have almost all A's. So it's the only thing I can do to better my chances.

I'm from nor cal too! Sonoma county, I went to sonoma state for my undergrad! However, my family is from so cal so that's why I applied to so cal schools. If I don t get in ill probably apply to samuel Merrit! I think you'll get into one of these schools with your grades and scores! Goodluck to you!

I emailed them today to see what day exactly they plan on letting us know. I will post again when I hear back. They can take a while to reply!

Hello everyone,

I just want to let you know that they started sending out the admission e-mails! I received mine this morning and I got in! Yay!

I sent in my transcripts early November and for the past month or so, I have been calling them constantly because those transcripts have been in my To-Do list everytime I logged in, even after they said that they received them. I finally got my evaluation this Monday but they said that I didn't reach the minimum Pre-Nursing Core GPA (2.75) when the evaluation sheet they sent clearly stated 3.27. They also told me that I was missing 5 more classes. I e-mailed the advisor back and even called the office to get it corrected and they got back to me with the updated evaluation 2 days after. Then I asked the advisor what the next step is or what is the probability of getting admitted and she said that I had good chances and wait for a decision next week. I checked MYCSUSM the same day and it said admitted!!! The next morning, I got the official e-mail!

So check your MyCSUSM first. If you don't see anything and have been waiting awhile for the evaluation, etc. just keep following them up through e-mail and phone calls!!

Good Luck everyone! Looking forward to meeting you this summer!

sunbun123 & payneco,

You could still get admitted with a TEAS of low 80s, I think as long as your GPA is high enough to pull up your points. I got an 83% on mine. I looked that the stats of the admitted cohorts and their TEAS average isn't that high either. (79-85% the past year) Anyway, good luck everyone!

Hi! That is good news! Congrats!! And the myCSUSM... it doesn't show my TEAS score on there under "test scores". Should it?? And I was also wondering does it state your TEAS score on your evaluation sheet?

Congratulations! Hopefully we receive some good news soon!!

Thanks!! And no, my TEAS isn't showing on both the MyCSUSM and evaluation sheet. Only things on my Eval sheet was the pre-nursing GPA and the overall points. Good Luck!
