CSU San Marcos ABSN Spring 2014

U.S.A. California

Welcome everyone!

This topic is open for those waiting, new applicants, curious individuals, etc. :)

I thought I was going to enter for the fall 2013 cohort (Temecula) but looks like it filled up before they ever evaluated my final set of transcripts. However, its good to know we all get at least 1-3 chances to find out. I figured we can all join in on how we are looking forward to being accepted for the spring 2014 cohort (San Marcos).

Hi ehlehnah! Thanks for starting this thread! I submitted my official transcripts/TEAS scores exactly a month ago, along with my online application and fees paid. I emailed --------------------- to check-in on my status. Is this the person that you guys have all been emailing? Everyone keeps saying that emailed "my adviser," and I'm curious as to who this is!

I'm aiming for Spring '14 cohort. Best of luck to everyone!

@skimsurfer201 At the ABSN information session, there are 3 advisors/evaluators who speak at the session. Each advisor evaluates and advises a certain portion of applicants, based on the first letter of their last names. Your advisor's name is printed at the bottom of your evaluation sheet when you receive it in the mail. So basically, "my advisor" varies.

Does anyone know where CSUSM program do their clinicals at?

Hi 2014 prospectives!!! I just got my acceptance email for the Spring 2014 Cohort!!! Any other classmates on here?! So Looking forward to January!!!

@aprilyoufools: Thanks for replying! I got my evaluation today- now I see what you're talking about. I have to finish physio this semester, and then I'll have everything done! I'm hoping for Spring '14, but I'm probably going to be too late for that cohort since I can't give them a final grade for physio until December =( I'll just have to wait and see and in the meantime, apply elsewhere as well! Good luck all!

Hello! :) I am applying as soon as I take my TEAS! (Not until Oct 19th :/) I've been stalking old CSUSM threads and it looks like people are getting accepted up until school starts so I guess there's still hope for Spring 2014!

@laras: Congrats!! You must be so excited!!

@3shaaa: Here's an info video from the CSUSM advisors!

(Are we allowed to post youtube links?? Sorry, new!) The list of clinical sites in the video (mind you, made in May 2011) are: Scripps, Kaiser, Tri-City, The VA, Rady Children's Hopsital, Balboa, Inland Valley Hospital, and Camp Pendleton, and I'm assuming Pomerado Hospital as I've read the hospital helps fund the program. :)

Good luck to everyone!!

Hi future nurses!

I'm also applying to this program, with the hope of starting in the Spring. I do have a class in progress, so that may postpone my start date until summer (hope not, though).

For those of you who have been accepted to the programs already, what was your GPA and TEAS V score?

I have a 83.3% on the TEAS. Not sure how they calculate the GPA, but it will probably be around 3.6. Do you have a shot?

If you watch the video I posted, it's an information session with the advisors of the program! It breaks down calculating each GPA really well, because I was pretty confused at first, too!

And of course I haven't been accepted yet, but I definitely think you have a shot with those stats, comparing them to previous averages! Good luck! :)

Thank you, lgripe! I just watched it and it was very helpful. I'm just so eager to finish my last class (physio) and get the application process going :) Is this your first choice school?

Same! I just have a speech class to finish! Mmm.... well I'm also applying to EL-MSN programs too, but I don't feel very competitive for them. Looking at past cohort stats, I feel like I have a pretty good shot, so it's definitely up there :) What about you?!?? Are you applying anywhere else?

I'm definitely keeping my options open as well. I'll be applying to both absn and bsn programs. There are 3 absn programs I am really interested in, this being one of them. I just calculated my points; I have 37 points in total. I pray that it'll be enough for an acceptance!

I have been reading through some of the previous posts and wanted to ask if you knew what a "conditional acceptance" is based on? Do they accept you before all your prereqs are done, with the condition you finish them?
