CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2012)

U.S.A. California

Hello,

I thought I'd make this thread for the new application group... even though it's a bit late since we have to all apply soon!

Anyway! I want to apply for the Fall 2012 term but I had some questions. I am an current CSULA student that transferred to CSULA in Fall 2010. I'm a Psychology major but am applying for Fall 2012 Nursing. I haven't taken my TEAS yet, but I'll be taking that on Friday (!!), so I'm very nervous about that.

That said, this is my first question:

I've been getting mixed info from different people. When I visited the Academic Advising Office last Spring (2011), the adviser told me that as long as I did not graduate from CSULA BEFORE I graduated, I could apply to the SON as a BSN applicant. I called SON to see if I could even apply for the ELM program and they told me that as far as they knew, I could not because I did not have my Bachelor's Degree yet.

So right now, I have approximately 2 quarters left in order to finish my Psychology major, approximately 6~8 classes. Ideally, I could finish by Spring 2012, but depending on my other workloads, I could push it back to Fall 2012. The problem is that I'm not allowed to graduate if I want to go into the basic program so I can't apply for graduation just yet. But IF I don't get into the BSN program, then I have to wait another two quarters after May or June or whenever they send out acceptances in order to officially graduate.

So I went to go and talk to my adviser about graduation and if I should even bother applying for Spring 2012 graduation and she tells me that no, I'm not allowed to apply for a BSN but I can go for the ELM program.

Does anyone know which is true? The CSULA advisers tell me that I can't apply for the Basic program but I can apply for ELM while the SON says that I can't apply for ELM because I don't have my Bachelor's degree yet and I should apply for the BSN program. Other graduate schools like APU and UCLA have also told me the same thing - without a Bachelor's, I cannot get apply for the ELM program at their school.

Thank you~

Do you too have that hold? Does anyone have this hold?

I shouldn't have a hold if that is the reason since I am not taking any classes this semester.

I did not report that I plan on taking nor am taking any units this semester.

and tiger07 wrote "I spoke with ----- in the nursing dpt today and he said we should expect acceptance letters to the program around May."

Ahhhhh, acceptance letters are almost out. This is so nerve racking lol.

@kosmic Refer to my post on page 19 very first post. Click the link. It takes you to last year's page wher you said you were accepted for fall 2011.... What happened to your acceptance? And does anyone have the hold I mentioned?

I had some major personal issues i had to care of so i had to sit out for fall 2011. As for the hold , i nrver ecprrienced that before

Aww that's unfortunate. Good luck!! You have a good chance since you were admitted before with proven scores. May I ask your points if you don't mind?

Karanb1r- I have the same admissions hold. It has been there ever since I applied. I always assumed it was because of the final transcripts they need. The acceptance email from the university said to check GET often and submit any documents requested and the only documents requested from me have been final transcripts by July 13th. If you want to double check, you can always call admissions, but I don't have a lot of faith in anything they say. But, it kind of makes sense for admissions to place a hold since our acceptance is contigent on our final transcripts. I would assume that it would be lifted once the contingency is met and we are good to go for fall registration.

I can't believe it is almost time for us, it feels like a lifetime ago that I sent in my application. I am excited and scared all at the same time! I am praying that our hard work will pay off for all of us!

DarkBlue- You better get in! I will be really disappointed if after all this, we both don't get accepted!

I agree with Sirena.

Everything depends on final transcipts! Just submit them anyway. Even if you didn't take anything new. Humor them! hahaha

Thank you so much Sirena! That means a lot to me!

It just isn't looking to good for me at all. I really hope I do get in! I know you will, for sure! Me? Ah probably not, but at least I tried lol. But I really hope we both get in!

Hi everyone. I have a question about the TEAS scores. If I took the TEAS in CSULA (last November), will the scores be automatically submitted to the SON? Or did I have to pay them to submit my scores to CSULA? Thanks!

I think it automatically gets send to CSULA

I think it automatically gets send to CSULA

Yeah, that is what I thought too. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks! Good luck to all of us! :)

I think if you took it a second time, you would need to send it to CSULA. I'm not sure though. If you only took it once at campus, the scores will automatically send to the SoN office.

I took the TEAS exam two times at CSULA, once in October and once in November. They contacted me about which score I wanted to use. So both are sent, not just one.
