Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2012

U.S.A. California

Hello everyone

Now that the due date is less than a week, I wanted to start a fresh thread for those who are applying for summer 2012.

Let me introduce myself first..

As you can tell from my user name I am a husband and a daddy (two year old daughter and soon to be born baby boy). I did my undergrad at USC (biology) but worked in the restaurant business for 5 years. I always wanted to work in health related field so that's why I am applying to Concordia!

For application, I am done except for the statement of intent, hopefully I will be done by this weekend!

I would like to wish nothing but the best for everyone!!

Let's get this thread rolling~

I got a call today with a question about my course in progress and she said the letters should be going out next week! Good luck everyone! :)

What! Oh man. I wonder if they will call or email people who are accepted before they receive official letters. I guess we shall see next week hopefully.

I'm ready to hopefully hear some good news. Anyone else?

Hi Everyone! Looks like this is the week for you guys to find out. Would any of you guys mind sharing your stats? I'm curious to see what my chances are of getting an interview. I'm not sure if it was CUI that I read that most people had really high GPA's on their first bachelors. Mine is NOT high at all but I did very well on my pre-requs and sciences. Thanks for sharing!

@cubanrob: I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN - wish everyone had the same requirements as well! Would definitely give us more options. I had to run a few of my classes by Henny. Thanks again and good luck to ya!

Melman, I sent you a PM.

Melman~ I am like you, I applied and did not get invited for an interview. I don't have a 3.0 GPA from my undergrad, which I received 13 years ago; but I have a 4.0 in all my pre-reqs. When I went to an information meeting they said they would consider accepting people with with undergrad GPA's below 3.0 if everything else panned out. I have a Master's with a GPA well over 3.0, but in the informational meeting they said they would not consider that GPA because not everyone has a Master's. I knew it would be tough to get in w/o a 3.0 undergrad GPA but I was still hopeful. Like you I am curious on some "stats" of other applicants who were in fact invited for interviews... Not giving up, just a delay in my dream, perseverance pays off!

So now I know I'm getting obsessed. I am constantly checking this forum, my email, missed calls and the now suspicious mailman.

@cubanrob: LOL! that is ME, everyday, since January 19th! except now it's just this forum, which helps me keep sane, and my email - still waiting to get off an ALTERNATE list!

@jen: I'm surprised they did not consider your master's GPA. what a bummer. most schools take that into consideration. have you tried applying to any other schools? I'm still going to give Concordia a shot for this fall, might as well. keep the faith - if you really want it, it will happen! :)

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail!!!!!!!!! I don't think I touched the ground on my way home from the mail box! Oh wow, excited to meet everyone and get this going!

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail too! I am so excited. Can't wait to meet you in person cubanrob!! Congrats to you!!

Congratz guys! Such great news!!!

@ Melman... I haven't applied any where else just yet, I need to take the TEAS; I will also reapply to Concordia. Hoping it was just the few classes I had pending which caused me to not get an interview; I will be done with them in May. Darn college GPA at the age of 20, I am 36 now with a 4.0, I would have to say lesson learned- know what you want the first time around:) Good luck to all and congrats. If anyone has any insight to forward to Melman and I please do so.
