CHLA New Grad Program March 2013

U.S.A. California

Hi all,

Just wanted to start up another forum for CHLA's Versant New Grad RN Program for the March 2013 cohort. Here's a link to CHLA's page: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3579535/k.2A87/RN_Residency__Pediatrics_Nurse__RN_Versant.htm

The online app should only be open for a few more days apply now and GOOD LUCK!

Specializes in Telemetry.

I got ACLS and EKG/Dysrhythmia Interpretation certified back in January before I even graduated, I figured it would be helpful with my final Critical Care rotation and tests in the lecture portion. I went and did the PALS in July after passing NCLEX because I knew I wanted to work with Pediatric patients down the line. Going to go do an NRP in the next couple weeks. With all that said and all that on my resume, it hasn't made much difference in finding a job...I am hoping this is where it finally makes that difference and that phone rings soon... for all of us! :banghead:

Yeah I should have mentioned I was planning on getting it. :shy: oh well...we will see!

I could be wrong bc its my first time applying, but I don't think that not having PALS would do much to hurt an applicant, since it isnt required, I just did it bc i figured it couldnt hurt, not assuming it would push me over the edge or anything...i think being an ideal candidate has more to do with all the other stuff...so basically if I am a so-so candidate, having PALS probably wont save me! :sarcastic:

I know its going to make rejection sting that much more, but I can't help get my hopes up! CHLA is my holy grail of new grad programs!! :singing:

I really wish we knew what they were looking for. I also have my PALS and ACLS...Im hoping this time around that having my RN license now helps :( we all want this so bad! hopefully the phones start ringing in the next few days!! fingers crossed :)

Specializes in IVF and oncology.

I totally agree with you. This is the only program that makes me think that will help me become an excellent nurse and achieve my goals. I read so much about it and also about the whole institution that, to be honest, it's the only new grad program that I've applied in Ca. Because of it, I decided to apply for the NCLEX which I could passed (Im from Puerto Rico). Is the only place where Im willing to leave my country and start a new stage in my life as a professional. If that doesn't happen.....I have plan B, C and D. But Im SUPER DUPER READY for that CALL!

Everything you said is exactly how I feel. I hope we both get it because I think we will get along! I was so inspired by their organization and the way they empower nursing. I just kept reading all these pdfs, especially their 2010 Annual report, and just fell in love with CHLA.

CHLA is where the versant new grad RN program originated... They ought to be one of the best if not the best in training their nurses! Being hopeful and optimistic through all of this.

I have the certs but I don't think it really makes a huge difference, unfortunately. Who knows what they look for! Keeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best for all of us. This will be a long wait.

I feel EXACTLY the same...I want nothing more than to work at CHLA the hospital is phenomenal and being a part of that team would be so amazing!

I am totally right there with you guys. I have applioed to many things, been super hopeful about many of them, but this is one that I can feel in my bones that it would be perfect!!It looks amazing, and looks like they will continue improving to stay amazing. I am so nervous that I won't get the call, and I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up. But I really, really hope this works out.

Good luck to all of us!! Let's hope these calls come soon!

They have two weeks to start calling us for interviews.. I'm freaking out, this month has gone by.. fingers crossed for sure!!

I know ah major fingers crossed haha. Anybody hear anything yet?!?! I am getting way to antsy haha.
