Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 2013

U.S.A. California

Just thought it would be helpful to post a new thread for the upcoming new grad program starting this summer. I've seen the thread for the program last year and wanted to see if anyone was one of the first 250 who applied for it this year. I applied for cohort #1 and got a phone interview last week and the gentleman said that I'd receive an e-mail within 1-2 weeks. I've also heard of people getting rejection emails as well without a phone interview. Anyone have additional info they'd like to share? Good luck to all us new grads out there!

I just got an invite for an interview this Thursday!!

I have a classmate who was accepted into lay years group- she admitted she had a 3.2 GPA (pretty bad I think) and that her mother works there and spoke to HR often. If you don't get accepted- good luck elsewhere but don't feel bad either!

Posting from my phone, ease forgive my fat thumbs! :)

did HR say that the travel expenses will be covered to anyone?

The email I got says that if you live outside the LA area you are responsible for your own travel, meals and lodging expenses.

I just got the invitation too!!

Yay CaliRN07!! What time is your interview?

Congrats and good luck to both of you! I also got an interview :D To those who are second-degree nurses, are you putting down just your nursing school GPA on the cover, or your undergrad GPA too? I'm going to call them tomorrow to find out, but I'm asking in case anyone happened to know :)

I had that same question coconutgirl....post here when/if you find out

I just received my notification e-mail today for the open house interview this coming thursday. i heard many different stories that the minimum GPA they accept is 3.5. But I just don't believe anybody and I'd rather find that out myself because I don't have a 3.5 GPA or not even 3.0 GPA. What I think is they are looking for a whole person concept that's why I made it to the next round. I was prior military and I have received many awards and recognitions through my contributions to the Air Force during the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yeah alwayshere, it seems like the 3.5 minimum was on last years list of "preferred" requirements for the app but I didn't see that this year? Maybe because they only considered the first 250 apps they changed that since they did it differently this year? I also read there was a skills survey they needed to do before the open house and they didn't do that this year either. I agree it's better to wait and know for sure than speculate.

I also just received an email. I'm concerned about the "originals only" rule for the letters of rec -- the ones I have were scanned and emailed to me, and I just got an auto-response back from one of my professors that said she was out of the office until April 10th. I went to school out of state so I don't know how I am going to get the "originals."

Yeah the "originals" stipulation is kind of ridic since mostly everything is electronic now. I'm scrambling to get a hold of my professors. I have generic ones that will work but would rather have them tailored for csmc
