I want to take a phlebotomy/IV certification class before I start nursing school. Anyone know of any good programs in southern California?

Sorry, I would love to know the answer to that myself. Where are you in CA? I'm in the Santa Clarita Valley. If I find something, I'll let you know. Do the same ?

Thanks

As it turns out, Saddleback College in Mission Viejo has a phlebotomy class!

I took a three day IV/Blood withdrawal certification class at Genesis Medical Education Consultants in Orange. They offer it every month or so. It goes over the basics of IV therapy and blood withdrawal. You learn the theory and then practice with the fake arms and skin boards. At the end of the course you do two lab draws and an IV insertion on a classmate. It was helpful for me.

Thanks everyone! Anyone know of something close to the Valencia area? Maybe I'll check out Henry Mayo hospital............

Thanks again guys for your help!

Long Beach City College has a phlebotomy program...http://www.lbcc.edu :twocents::typing

Thank you!:wink2:

I took the month long program at Family Health Services Training Center in San Diego. Cost is approximately $1800. It was a pretty good program, but don't take it to get a job as a phlebotomy tech unless you have a sure "in." Nobody I know who has earned that certification in the last year has found work.

in san diego?

I know Phlebotomy you can take before you go to nursing school. But I believe you have had to finish (or concurrently) a nursing program for the IV Certification class. If you want to learn about IVs then go to amazon and purchase a book specifically on IVs to learn more. Good Luck

Does anyone have suggestions for northern CA?
