Cal State East Bay acceptance letters for Fall 2010??

U.S.A. California

My friend and I applied to the nursing program at Cal State East Bay for Fall 2010 and she received her conditional acceptance package to the nursing program today. I on the other hand have only received an email (last week) requesting transcripts for the nursing department even though my application went in before hers. On the website it says that throughout December they will be emailing out requests for transcripts, not acceptance packages, so I was just wondering if I should be worried. Has anybody else received an acceptance or conditional acceptance package?

Hi I received the same conditional admission letter as your friend, i'm not sure what it means. I thought it was just an acceptance letter to the university so I was going to be calling them in a little bit. Let me know if you friend finds out more about it.

My friend said it was an admissions acceptance letter specifically from the nursing school...I will ask her again though, and If you find out more please let me (us) know too! In any case, congratulations! :yeah:Also, just out of curiosity, would you mind sharing what your GPA and TEAS scores are...my friend and I both have a 3.8 GPA based on the 9 prereqs and she got an 87.5% on the TEAS but I got an 86.5%....I hope that small difference doesn't blow it for me. I think admission based on strictly numbers (especially timed standardized tests) is ridiculous  I really wish that they required personal statements and letters of recommendation, and took those into the evaluation process as well.

I love how this post has received 77 views but only 1 response...I'm going to take that as a good sign

admission to cal state east bay as an undergraduate student and admission to the nursing major are two separate processes.

the office of admission is now reviewing fall 2010 undergraduate applications and some students have already received conditional admission to the csueb as a pre-nursing major. admission as a pre-nursing major does not guarantee admission into the nursing major; however, it is admission into the university so you can begin work on general education courses and major prerequisites. if you have applied to cal state east bay’s office of admission you can check on your application’s status by visiting mycsueb.

the nursing department is also reviewing applications for nursing majors as well. students who meet the minimum criteria for consideration will be asked to submit additional transcripts to the nursing department for review. after that the nursing department will render a final decision on admission into the nursing major.

i hope this helps answer your question!

My friend applied for fall 2010 hopes she gets in!

Thank you for the clarification India!

You do not have to worry yet! I'm a level1 Nursing student at CSUEB-Hayward, and I was at the same situation as you last year. I recieved my acceptance letter on April 22 through email, and believe me it was in the JUNK mail! However, the acceptance to the school was sent by mail around this time. You seem to be in a good shape, and will definately go in.I know many students with lower GPA and lower TEAS tests scores that got in. So I think you should not worry that much. Good luck, and get a good rest before the school starts. Hope to see you next year!

I want to be u futurenurse lol.

Thank you futuredream, hope to see you next year too! How are you liking the program so far? Do you know how it compares to Samuel Merritt's ABSN program? A nurse I know who trains new hires at Alta Bates told me she thinks the students who come from CSUEB are more well prepared than those from Samuel Merritt. Getting through school in only one year is appealing but I don't want to be completely stressed out the whole time and then come out not feeling confident..not to mention the cost of tuition, yikes! Any opinions on this?

Unfortunately I have no idea how it compares to the Sammuel Merrit. I like this program very much. It's very well organized. Instructors are very supportive and clear on what they want from you. They keep eye on every and each of student, and if something is going wrong they'll find a way to help. It did not happen to me, but i know a student, who had to leave the program for the personal reasons, but they would let her continue next year. Is not this nice?

Lahaka - a recruiter at the hospital where I work also told me that she/other managers think the Samuel Merritt ABSN grads are not as well trained as graduates from other programs.
