Hi I am applying for California licensure by endorsement and on the website it says they require a transcript from your nursing program. Is that for ALL applicants or just NEW RNS...if I am licensed in other states I obviously had to complete a program. Just curious because my school is closed and getting the transcript is a pain in the neck. Thanks!

Sorry to bear the bad news, but it is for ALL applicants. CA has pretty stringent educational requirements regarding licensure.

If your school is closed for good, then you may want to drop the CA BRN a note to ask what they would like you to do.

After 2 weeks they reviewed my papers and decided that i am not eligible for california rn. This is because they want me to go back to school because my medical surgical nursing and obstetrics are not concurrent with my clinicals. I have to take those two subjects along with clinical rotation before they approve me. They want the clinical part be taken within a month of the classroom part, which is the curriculum if you study here in the US. Because in my school in the philippines, they made us finish all the classroom part first then a whole year of clinicals. So be aware that even if you have passed the Nclex RN and licensed and practicing in another state doesnt mean you can get a license in california.

I just got notice from the Board of Nursing Cali that my fingerprints have to be redone due to poor quality. I flew to Cali to have them done via Livescam because that was supposed to be the faster route (2 weeks to process vs. 2 months via hard copy). That was three months ago. Now I discover three months later, that the prints are no good. If the Livescam is supposed to be processed in 2 weeks, why does it take the board 3 months to notify me of this? I could have had them redone and resubmitted via hard copy in that time frame. Now, 4 months after my application was submitted, I have to go back to the hard copy route. I don't trust Livescam. What a joke. If you are looking for licensure by endorsement in California, be prepared for major delays in processing. Unacceptable in my view.

That is so crazy! Are you sure it takes two months for them to verify the hard scan fingerprints? I sent mine like within a week of receiving the fingerprint scans. Its been 2 months but no word yet. My status is still pending.

I know they advertise on the CBORN website that hard copy takes up to 2 months for validation. The livescan is supposed to be available in 2 weeks. I flew to Cali to have my livescan done for 79 dollars (by the site) in mid March. I wasn't notified by CBORN until July 1 that the fingerprints were "of poor quality" and had to be resubmitted. I resubmitted with hard copy because it was my best shot. The police department fingerprint lady told me she wasn't sure my new prints would go through because I had "poor ridge definition". I don't know what to do after that, if these get rejected...maybe more of the same? The problem with the entire system (BreEZe) is that your file reveals nothing to you except "pending". You don't know what materials have been accepted and verified and what has not. There is no way to be proactive. There is no checklist of items required for finalization of your license that indicates the app is complete or something is missing. You are kept in the dark, like a mushroom...and fed nothing but "pending". Heck, even a mushroom gets fed. If they were serious about their program, they would correct the computerized system they have now and include periodic updates when materials are received so people will KNOW what is missing. So. I just wait for the next snail mail letter to arrive to piss me off.
