Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program

U.S.A. California

I didn't see a thread on AVC nursing so I just made one for everyone. IS anyone applying to AVC nursing or in the program already? The person working at the department told me it would be like 3 semester waits. I'm expecting to get in around fall 2011 or spring 2012 since I turn in my application around October 2010. Anyone in the program already, would you please share your experience. Anyone who is about to get in the program, can you please tell me how long you've waited since the time you turn in the application?

Thanks everyone!!!

When I first was accepted to the program, I got an admission packet with the date of the program orientation; A black page for the physical, where to purchase malpractice insurance and official uniforms, and the background check.

What wer're getting at AVC e-mail account it looks like general info for now.

Well they are still doing it that way. The email to look out for is supposed to give the date and time of the informational meeting. It's mostly going to be info and q&a for those about to go into the program. Many people do not realize the upfront costs (like $80 scrubs, $50 background check, $30 fingerprints, insurance) so it's their chance to hear it all before the acceptance letters are mailed out. They want people to have an idea beforehand that way when they get their letters, they can decide whether or not it's something they can or want to do. They are still sending out the regular acceptance packets in November with all the forms and stuff.

(they are taking 40 in the program and then 20 waitlist people who may get in if others drop or cant be in the program).

They're taking 60. You keep reporting the wrong info !!!!!

40 are generic student, 20 are transition students. Maybe you need to speak to the dean if you want to hear it directly from her. Maybe she will tell you whether or not you are going to be in for the spring that way you can stop getting upset with people telling you what information they had received. The 20 transition students did not get the information about the upcoming meeting because their information is different. Perhaps you can ask the dean about the time and date of the meeting because that information was emailed to students today. Have a good day.

I spoke to her as well. She said that they are taking 20 LVN transitions and 40 generic this semester....

Joshash- I am doing the transition and waiting to see if I get invited to the information session still. When is the generic information session? I also applied to COC and got accepted into their program and did their orientation last week, but I am hopeful AVC will take me instead!

Finally you post something right.

I'm in the program. I don't need to read on your missinfo. I just don't think is right that you're missinforming other people.

Please email me at [email protected] and I will gladly give you the information. I do not want to put it out on a public site as people may see it and show up when they are not being accepted this spring.

Others have confirmed what the dean has told those entering the program. I get my information directly from the dean. If you have been accepted than I guess I will see you at the informational meeting. Have a good evening.

We won't see eachother. I'm in the bridge program--a total different orientation.

3rd watch- did you already get notified about the meeting? I'm crossing my fingers to get into the bridge! I'm number 24 on the list, what number are you ?

Joshash- thank you!

Perhaps I was mistaken. You previously stated you were on the waitlist for the generic program, not the bridge. I guess you changed lists. Well good luck in the bridge program.

The programs' administrators accepted the fact the we challenged the state's exam for licesensure. They're still debating though.
