Any COS Visalia students out there?

I was just wondering if there were any other students taking the ADN program at College of the Sequoias in Visalia California. I picked up my syllabus for N161 and want to know what ya think....

Thanks!! I am a member of the yahoo group. Just a lurker.. reading posts and taking quizzes. I have heard that there might be 80 in the fall. Rebekah F. told me they were scrambling to find clinical spots for everyone.... I hope so! That would make a LOT of people happy!

Rebekah is great, she let me do an IV stick on her when I dodn't have enough people :D . I knew it at least 50, coundn't remember exact number. I had my clinical site in Hanford with Jodi Gilam. She was so awesome, never made me feel stupid, treated me as a peer not just a student. Childers is cool but I don't know how she was in clinical. Morris scared tha pants off me, she just comes off as a scary lady. I had heard from our teachers that they might be changing some of the program, based on the reccomendations of the visting BRN. However due to their contract problems, I believe it won't kick in till Jan of next year. I think it mainly applies to 2nd semster though... Good Luck...

Lunakat--I know you've probably been really busy. Thanks for giving Joni and I some info about the program. We're just about to go crazy waiting for our {hopeful} acceptance letters! Would be nice if they expanded the program for this fall, but it sounds like it might be more likely in the spring semester. Anyway, good luck in finishing up your semester!

Thanks! If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA when you were accepted at COS? That seems to be the magical question around campus. Mine is a 3.6. I hear rumors left and right about everyone's GPA. I try not to listen, but the scary ones are when they say a 3.8 isn't good enough, etc. I hope they send out the letters in the mail the first week of May...I can hardly stand the wait! :uhoh21:

Bwahaha my GPA over all!?!? It was pretty low (2.7) Boy they were not joking in college when they say if you don't drop your classes your self, you could get stuck with an F! I learned that the hard way. However I got really good grades in my core science classes: A's and a couple of B's. I think they really want you to have good grades on those. Don't listen to what everyone says. I stopped dating a guy last semester because I got into the program and he didn't. He just kept going on and on about how his GPA was higher than mine and how I must have known someone to get in (not true, I am from Lemoore I didn't know anyone in Visalia). If they increase the class size that means more people will qualify . Also realize that while you may have had A's in your college classes, the Nursing program is a whole new ball game. You have to learn how to study and test all over again. In fact, if you're ever by the nursing office, scan the posted grades for 161 and 162. You will notice that there are not that many A's! Most of us in the class used to be A students! So don't listen to everyone else and keep your eyes peeled for you letter, I am sure it's coming. :p

Thanks Lunakat for all your kind words and info... I'll tell you I went to UC Davis right out of high school and I think my GPA from there was like barely 2.0.. I majored in Tequila I think... I wrote a letter asking that they disregard that part of my GPA alltogether! (My prereq GPA is 4.0)... I'm not expecting to continue with a GPA like that, though I don't think C=RN either necessarily...

I'm from Hanford and hopefull I can do my clincal here... I heard the Morris is pretty tough (avoid her like the plague tough!). Thanks again!!

Lunakat, you were accepted for the fall semester last year, right? When did you get your letter? Was it the beginning of May? We've still got a month to go if that's the case! Joni and I are going nuts waiting! lol!

I want to say I got my letter in the middle or near the end of April. Not sure.
