American River College Fall 2013 Applicant Pool

U.S.A. California

I haven't been to any of the Multicriteria meetings on the new application process for American River College but I have a question:

If ARC is selecting students from the top 30% of applicants and automatically giving top 30% spots to those who have applied 5 or more times, does this mean that the top 30% will be made primarily of those who have applied 5 or more times?

Does it mean that you need an even higher score to be put in the top 30%/one is less likely to get a spot in the top 30% based on the multicriteria score? Or is it the top 30% of the multicriteria scores AND 5+ time applicants are included in the selection pool?

I hope some of this makes at least a little sense :)

Yes there is one that they offer but it's not called a refresher class in particular. Look under the lvn requirements and it's like bio 308 or something. Arc lists it under remediation or a class to refresh in order to take the teas test. I was gonna try and take it this semester but it didn't go well with my work and other class schedule.

That's great to know! I will have to look into it! Thanks :)

So... My friend who is currently an LVN said she was accepted into ARC's program and took the TEAS V test today... I guess they've already sent their acceptance letters?

I knew it would be a week early. When exactly was she notified?

Guess we will be getting our rejection letters next week!

Wait...how could she have applied without taking the TEAS first? You needed a TEAS V score to apply...

Right? I didn't understand either...

Also, she is an LVN maybe its their mobility program and not the regular ADN program...

Oh! In that case, that wasn't even an online application. I think that's a different selection process altogether... Hmm would be interesting to know...

That's what I was thinking. It isn't the one we are waiting so patiently for lol

Lyricalluna, you've applied a few times right? Do you typically hear from ARC at about 4 weeks every time? Or does it fluctuate?

Yes, It usually takes 4-5 weeks for my rejection letter. :-D. I forgot when the deadline was. Was it April 3rd?
