From what I've heard..they are in a hiring freeze right now. I tried Olive View Medical Center in Sylmar and they aren't hiring anyone right now as well.

The best way to secure a job there is if you know someone or worked there before as a student nurse.

Have you tried their Website yet?
They accept on-line, mail in, walk in application!
You can download the form form their website!
You never know until you have tried!

They have a hiring freeze because of the state budget crisis. It happened last summer too (which lasted 4-5 months).

I had an interview in lac-usc yesterday. They told me that I dont need an interview because I already had my interview at ucla harbour. They just told me that they're gonna contact the manager of med surg and ask if they still have an opening.Goodluck to those who are looking for a job, that includes me.

LA County jail is always hiring. It is a very different kind of nursing. Safer than most people think. Aden

Are they willing to train a new nurse like me who has zero experience at all?

There is a good chance. First thing apply and then they have you come in and take a very basic medication test and then do an interview right after that.
If you know basic nursing, can calculate basic meds and have common sense and are fluent in English your chances are above average. If you have any life experience with helping others and problem solving, then stress that. Review your Psych Nursing, drug and alcohol detox as well as google "corrections nursing". Relax, visualize yourself. Expect the Unexpected.
