Yes, I worked at White Memorial as a new grad in the emergency room. I resigned about two months ago because I was uncomfortable with the fact that majority of their patients are spanish speaking only, and I don't speak a bit of spanish. It was very difficult to assess and communicate with the patients. It was overall a very nice hospital. The pay rate for new grads is lower than average, but ultimately in the short amount of time that I was there, I learned alot.

Hey lawrence,
County162 is right the population in EASTLOS is primarily hispanic, although I dont find that to be a problem you should consider that it may be hard for you to communicate with your patients. The hospital is pretty big and I've never heard any negative things about it. It might help for you to take a mini-self-directed tour (not a word). You could go over there and see for yourself whats like and maybe even ask a the nurses how they like working there.

White is going through alot of changes. Can't say yet if for the better. Every one is working short... beyond ratios in nursing. Even pharmacy and lab is short (1hours for STAT lab draws, 3-4 hours to POST on computer chart). Many units are 90% staffed by foreign born nurses who speak minimal Spanish. So don't worry about language. Nurses find the job harder because they don't speak Visayan.
