West Coast University clinical sites and tuition?

Calling all West Coast University Los Angeles students and alum...I'm interested in attending WCU because I won't have to be placed on a waitlist to being my nursing classes once my pre-reqs are completed. I've already earned a BA and MA in clinical psychology, and don't want to waste anymore time making a career change.

Can anyone please tell me where the clinical sites are located for WCU Los Angeles? I know that WCU Los Angeles is moving from their current location to N. Hollywood, so the clinical sites may change, but I'd like to get an idea of where clinicals take place.

Thanks

Heart Broken Re: West Coast University clinical sites and tuition?
The clinical sites are plenty and relatively well spread out throughout the L.A. area, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valley's, mainly central L.A. but your right I just graduated and I know a lot of things may change due to the move. The cost is now up to I believe $68,000. If you want my opinion as a very recent WCU grad, I'd say find a less expensive place and believe me there's no need to rush, just ask any of the many, many new grads that are seeking employment as a new R.N. grad in the L.A. area. That's one thing WCU doesn't tell you, we're all still wanting to believe that "there's a great nursing shortage", but now we know, not in California.

Dear LAnursingstudent,

Thanks so much for your honest response!! Are you able to specifically name a few of the sites? On the one hand, I agree there's no rush, however, in my case I took the long way around getting to nursing and completed my MA in clinical psychology in December 2007. I also just turned 37 in April, and as much as I realize being 37 is not that old. I do take into consideration completeting pre-reqs, then applying to a nursing program in LA that has a limited number of open slots only 1-2 times a year it could take up to 5 years to complete my BSN.

I've carefully looked at the jobs that do exist, and many "prefer" or "require" a BSN and not a ADN, so I'm trying to knock out as much nursing education as I can in the shortest amount of time. I've looked into the local community college programs and pre-reqs have to be completed prior to applying and then you're still not guaranteed a class spot. I've also looked into advanced entry BSN or MSN programs for students who already have a BA/BS in a field other than nursing. Admission reqs are all the same...complete pre-reqs prior to admission, students only accepted 1-2 times a year and STILL there's no assurance to be accepted into the actual nursing program. I realize all programs have their pluses/minuses...I appreciate all input to this inquiry.

Thanks so much!!

Pacific Alliance, Verdugo Hills, California Hosp., Shriners, Childrens hosp., Las Encinas...these are just a few that I can recall from the Los Angeles campus but I'm sure you can call the school and ask. Also, another thing you might want to know, you have to test out of every course and your given two chances, should you have to retake a class (and many do) it cost between $4,000 - 8,000 more added to your loan of course unless you pay cash. The good part is that the passing rate for NCLEX is above the 90% catagory.

Health Re: West Coast University clinical sites and tuition?
Thanks for the info!!Good to the NCLEX passing ratee is above 90%. Some other posts have stated they felt WCU was simply interested in getting paid, regardless of whetehr or not the student should continue on towards becoming a nurse, did you get that feeling, too?? Did you do the BSN program or one of the other nursing programs??
I noticed on the WCU website the faculty mostly have MSN? Were they helpful during your classes? Do you know anything about the Accelerated Post-Bachelor BSN program at National University??

Thanks again
