I'm a telemetry nurse who works in a big city hospital in philadelphia. Currently I get paid about 28 plus 5.50 for permanent nights. I get pretty good benefits and paid time off (4 weeks of vacation, 3 personals, and 4 paid holidays.) I also only have to work a weekend every 3rd weekend. Like some I have the desire to relocate to the west coast san diego specifically. I am looking to make the move with my girlfriend who also lives in philly and works as an occupational therapist.
My question to all you San Diego nurses is how is the job market? The philly job market for nurses is really tight right now. New nurses are not getting hired and my hospital is in a hiring freeze. Is this a similiar situation in San Diego? My stats are that I will be an RN (BSN) with about 1 and a half years when Im ready to make this move. I'm also ACLS certified and have taken the critical care course.
With my experience, current pay, and paid time off in Philly is this a good move? Are there jobs in San Diego? If so what is the pay, paid time off, and obligated weekends that you must work? Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
