Sharp Grossmont v Anaheim Memorial

HI
I am a UK RN coming to california in the next month. I have been offered jobs at Sharp Grosssmont in stepdown/telemetry, and Anaheim Memorial Medical Center on a cardiac observation unit with rotation into ICU. Does anyone offer any opinions on these hospitals or have any experience of working on these wards. Any help would be most appreciated.

When I was in nursing school I did many of my clinicals at Sharp Grossmont. It was an excellent experience and I absolutely loved the San Diego area compared to Anaheim!

I don't anything about Anaheim Memorial, but I can tell you that SG is a good hospital, and I think you'd be happy there. And I can definitely tell you that living in San Diego is more pleasant than living in Anaheim! (Spoken like a true San Diegan, of course...)

Thankyou everyone for your replies. Have taken the job at Sharp Grossmont. Hoping to start there in November. Any tips on best places to live? Intending to buy a car so do not mind travelling.

What will be your primary consideration? Budget? Living near the beach? Quality of schools? I love where I live, but I don't think you'd want to come this far- it would take an hour to get to work each way (longer to come home) Mission Hills is a lovely neighborhood, within half an hour of SG, but pricey. There are some very nice neighborhoods right in La Mesa, where SG is.

I agree. When I was out there I lived in La Mesa and Spring Valley.

Hi,

I want to live in a neighbourhood that is safe. I am looking at buying a house at some point so a location that is reasonably priced

(Am selling my house in the U.K to help with this). Being near good schools would be a priority also. Any tips would be great.

I don't know anything about Anaheim, but the area around Grossmont has some nice spots, and I think that school district is ok. ALL housing in SoCal is outrageously priced. Sorry.

signonsandiego.com is the website for the San Diego Union Tribune. I'll search for the school district sites.

This is a map of various school districts. If it says "union", it is either primary or secondary only, if it says "unified", it's K-12. The map also includes the Community College Districts.
