RNs who were LVNS.......WHAT IS YOUR HONEST OPNION?

I GOT ACCEPTED TO A new LVN PROGRAM(2 EVENINGS A WEEK AND ALL DAY SAT). I WAS IN ANOTHER ONE ,THAT FELT AS IF THEY DID NOT CARE IF YOU HAD A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF ANY SUBJECT< I FELT AS IF I WAS BEING DRAGGED BEHIND A MOVING CAR. THEY DID NOT CARE if you UNDERSTOOD OR NOT (besides the everyday horrid drama). I THOUGHT ABOUT IT, AND WALKED AWAY FROM THAT PROGRAM (which was 5 days a week).THAT BEING SAID I KNOW IN CALIFORNIA LVN PROGRAMS ARE CRANKING OUT LVNS LIKE CRAZY. DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER TO FORGO THE WHOLE LVN THING (i am a CNA) AND JUST GO FOR MY RN???? I AM 46 so yes this age thing concerns me a bit.(okay a lot) ANY OPINION GOOD OR BAD WOULD BE HELPFUL.

While I have loved being an LPN for 30 years, I recommend for anyone to go start for Rn if at all possible. Reasons are numerous as posted in so many areas of of this web site.

I was an LPN from 1992 to 1994 and yes, YES, yes, do the RN program because it gives you more options.

I was an LPN between 1999 to 2003! If you could get into an RN Program, I think you should go for it. In my case, it was so hard for me to get into an RN Program in New York City, so I went to an Adult LPN Program. I would have skipped the LPN Program if an RN Program accepted me.
As an RN, you could go for ER/Trauma, ICU, PACU and many more!
Good luck!

I agree if you do get accepted to an RN program do it. I was on many waiting lists, so I decided to do the LVN program in the mean time so I can keep learning and not loose it all...and it's at my pace so it works for me...good luck!
